What Students Say
Likes
- I've liked and appreciated the quality of the faculty of my department. They've been good guides in the field of my academic journey so far.
- The college holds placement drives once every year for the 3rd year students. I still have one more year to go before I can experience
- Being a general degree college, the infrastructure is well enough to fit the needs and requirements of the student body.
Dislikes
- I've disliked the scarce amount extracurricular opportunities here. It's there but it's not upto the standards that is essential for college going students.
- The Xerox and print facilities are either permanently shut down or closed most of the days.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum division and contents have been satisfactory to me. They're theory oriented given the nature of my course but they also sufficiently equip the students with the skills required for further academic pursuits. The curriculum can become better if it includes some hands-on teaching opportunities for students so they can get real life experiences for further careers in the field of academia. The frequency of the classes have been satisfactory so far. The difficulty level is moderate.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for campus placements from the 6th semester onwards I believe. The highest package comes up to 3.5 lakhs a year and the lowest package comes down to 1.5 lakhs a year. I'm not really aware of the percentage but students with science and commerce backgrounds have a higher chance. My plans include to continue on the line of academia and pursue higher education.
Fees and Financial Aid
I haven't heard anything about the possibility of a tuition fee hike since I've been a regular student of this particular institution. The complete cost of my education comes down to less than 15 thousand a year including the tuition, exam fees, and other cocurricular certificate courses that the institution offers. There are a number of scholarships and financial aids that the students can refer to. Many peers I know are getting scholarship aid through the swami vivekananda scholarship scheme. Apart from that, students also get aid through other state recognised scholarships. Most of these scholarships pay the full amount of yearly academic tuition. I haven't taken any campus employment yet.
Campus Life
The institution holds a number of annual functions every like like the vasanta utsav, independence day, college students week, edufairs etc. The library has a huge collection of physical as well as e-books available for the student body. I'm not aware of the technological provisions available for the science courses but from what I've seen and heard, they seem to be up to the mark. The campus has several sports teams managed by coaches and holds the annual sports day every year. There are a few student run clubs in the college.
Admission
The eligibility includes being a holder of a secondary school education degree. The application forms can be found on the college website every year from the month of July to August. There is no application fees required. The students with caste reservation certificates can get their names on the cut-off list with lesser marks. Keeping up with the CBCS curriculum, each semester consists of 6 months and the semester end exams are on the last month is every semester. The difficulty level of the examinations are regulated by the university. One improvement in the admission process can be to improve the website portal.
Faculty
I feel like the student experience here would be much better if the faculty to student ratio was much lower than it is here but it's still alright the way it is. The faculty credentials are upto the mark in my opinion. They're all knowledgeable and the mentorship guidance that they've provided so far has been substantially effective. The professors are very easy to approach for most of the part and student-teacher interaction is highly encouraged.
