Likes
- The campus life and extracurricular activities are the highlight of most DU colleges
- The fests are to die for, they are really vibrant and give the core student life experience
- The curriculum is also well thought after. The overall college experience brings a lot of exposure of the professional world
Dislikes
- The teachers can be too strict and ill mannered at times, putting schoolike restrictions on students
- Most washrooms are not well maintained as there is lack of cleanliness in the toilets and common rooms
- Although most du colleges provide ample extracurricular activities, most profesors and teaching faculty is not very cooperative with ECA students making it hard to manage grades and ECA participation
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum related to my course is honestly very well planned it gives us insights on the most important areas of literature and we read about some the most prominent posts and authors, it is also very good for developing a good political and rational sense.
Internships Opportunities
I'm not much aware of any internship offered by our college as I haven't taken up any in my first year but we do have an internship and placement cell which is very active. Some of the top recruiters of our college are wipro, Citi Bank, McKinsey, aaj tak news channel
Placement Experience
Campus placement is usually offered in the third year, not everyone is eligible for placement their is a certain benchmark gpa that you need to have for the same (usually 7+) the highest package offered in our college has gone uptp 28-29 LPA and the average package of the placed students is 5.9 LPA. One important thing toh note is that not every student gets placed through the placement process as companies look for skillful candidates and the college doesn't contribute to building your skill on it's own, one will haveto take up opportunities and internships that prove to be most significant for them
Fees and Financial Aid
The cost of education is fairly reasonable especially compared to the private colleges that don't provide half of the quality education and experiences that we get here. The classes are fully Air conditioned during summer and the library and canteen is also very well maintained. Campus employment opportunities are also good, the summer internship program (in the north campus) is one to look for, the stipend for the same is around 10,000 per month. The overall return on investment is decent.
Campus Life
The campus life is extremely vibrant really my first day in college felt like some Bollywood movie. Random flashmobs of different ECA societies are very common here. There are multiple prestigious societies in our college, Oorja, hansraj dramatics society and kavyanjali are extremely popular. The sports scenario is also pretty good here there is cricket football badminton basketball and plenty more. Most eca societies are student run, other than that there are societies that also add serious accolades to your academic profile such as IFSA, Enactus, 180dc.
Admission
The admissions were NOT based on board results, they were based on cuet scores, to get in the top colleges of du (like LSR st Stephens hindu hansraj) you need to have a minimum score of 740+/800 if you fall in the unreserved category. The application forms are usually released by university portal and the entrance exam is of intermediate level, it's not too hard if you've studied your textbooks (NCERT) well.
Faculty
The faculty of my course is decent honestly they are neither too good not too bad, when it comes to their qualification some professors can seem a little unreasonable while some professors are really good at what they teach. However a common point for most of the professors is that they aren't very cooperative in matters of attendance which creates a problem for ECA students. Some professors are fairly interactive but at the same time some couldn't care less about interacting with students.
