Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

CSE is a course which is needed to land a good job in today's world; but that is possible only if you know the basics as well as new additions to this tech world properly. While choosing this course my mind said that definitely as the name suggests we will be trained for landing a good job in tech world with all the necessary skills but that is not the case apparently. And this is not only about my college but the whole curriculum of this course in our country. The curriculum does not include topics or subjects which are relevant in today's world, instead it is stick to old methods and subjects, some of which are not even in use in today's world while searching for a job. Still there are subjects which are crucial for our career like DSA, Networking, Operating System and fortunately the faculty teaching them are really skilled in their domains. Exams are of two kinds: Unit tests(occuring in one month after sem starting) and Semesters(two semesters). Difficulty level is moderate.

Internships Opportunities

0.5

In simple sentence there is not many opportunities for internships in our college. Using the word many will also be an exaggeration I havent heard of any kind of internship offered by any company in our college in recent years. The internships that some people do are always on their own from off campus. College provides BCT courses but I am not sure how much help they are of because I havent done any till now.

Placement Experience

1

Recession is going on since last few years and being a private college obviously that has affected placements in our college also. The current situation of placement is not really good. Among students from all branches which each may have like 150 students, only 20 something got placed on campus. It is said that companies like TCS, Capegemini, Wipro, Amazon, Zscaler etc comes to campus for hiring but most just come and don't hire. This year highest package was 26.5 lakhs by only 2 students from our department, CSE.

Fees and Financial Aid

That maybe the biggest con of this college. Our batch faced a massive hike in fee after starting the course during second semester. Fee increased by 50000 suddenly, which is atrocious! This kind of sudden hike is not acceptable, not every family have same kind of financial situation and this may lead to problems in continuing a student's education if this kind of hike continues to occur! There are student loans issued by banks and governments, also many scholarships available but many times few students may not be applicable for these facilities which is really unfair because if the college is deciding for a sudden hike, they should also provide scholarships! But they don't for CSE students, other departments do get some kind of scholarship, which is again really unfair

Campus Life

2.5

As I said earlier the campus life is more or less good only because the crowd here is quite friendly. When I speak about crowd it's mostly about the seniors I'm talking about. They're quite friendly people. Annual feasts happen once a year obviously it is a very fun event it mostly happens like for 2 days and also departmental feasts happens all year long. We have a library, the collection of library is quite good there are many kinds of books, magazines and journals to choose from. There are many places to hang out, the campus is quite big for that. Lab classes have acs and therefore Summers become quite bearable. Sports also is quite celebrated in our college as various sports like volleyball, cricket, football and I guess many more sports which I don't know of take place we also have annual sports events cultural clubs initiative for arranging Functions during feasts or farewells also in freshers all these social events Positive impact on student's life.

Admission

I took WBJEE to get into an engineering college, my score was low but I do not remenber actually how much it was. I did not have any reservation and had to enter this college through a lengthy process of counselling. Definitely having reservations might help one to get better college and even some discount in course fee like for the people with TWF category. WBJEE occurs once a year around april or may. Another competitive exam which will allow one to take admission in this college is JEE, which occurs two times a year, one in january and second session in april. Both are difficult examinations with JEE being on national level more difficult.

Faculty

3.5

I just completed my first year in this college so my experience with faculty is rather short to give a complete detailed description but I will try to add everything I observed. In first year we were under ASHU department ( Applied Science and Humanitites). The faculty was quite friendly, most of them at least. HOD of ASHU department is really a great teacher who also acts like a friend as well as mentor when required. Among others, chemistry department teachers were not that friendly or approachable but the other subjects's teachers were really easily apporachable. Now if I come to CSE department, we had really little interaction in first year but the teachers I met during this short period were really friendly and approachable and their teaching techniques really resonated with me. Learing DSA from college was really easy for the amazing knowlegdge BS ma'am of CSE department has. I am not really sure about the student teacher ratio though.
