Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The curriculum revolves around core computing subjects which is good with some additional subjects like human values which don't really make sense to be included in computer science but still they are there so students have to study it another such subject is the Indian knowledge system. But then again these subjects do make sense when thinking about real life so they're not completely useless. Every semester has 3 in-sem exams and 1 end sem exam along with one innovative exam and some practical examinations so every month has one exam atleast on an average.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

Unpaid internships start from first year itself and give students industry practice and paid outhouse internships start from 3rd year with average stipend of around 1000 per month some even go as high as 5000 per month from the same companies that offer jobs and college also supports off campus internships from which students can benefit. College also provides funds for projects and other innovative work done by students in order to encourage them to engage in such activities.

Placement Experience

4.5

Students become eligible for campus placement from 6th semester. Big companies that visit TCET includes JP Morgan Chase & co and infyTQ which are quite popular and give average packages of 17.5 lpa and 10 lpa respectively. The complete average package including every company that visits is around 4-5 lpa. 100% placement*. After getting degree I might go for higher studies through gate and pursue my masters in computer science.

Fees and Financial Aid

The standard fee for computer engineering is ?1,65,000 annually with some additional charges that add up to be ?1,80,000 maximum. However students that get admission through TFWS (TUITION FEE WAIVER SCHEME) get a concession of ?1,39,131 which is the tuition fee. Also students that belong to hindi minority get admission at comparatively low score in mhtcet but have to pay ?2000 extra. The SC/ST and EBC students get scholarship opportunities which returns half the tuition fee to the students if applicable.

Campus Life

4.5

Multiple fests are organised throughout the year some of them are Zephyr , Tarangan ,etc. Multiple books from varied fields are available in the Library and every student can access them and even take them home for self studies for a limited amount of time using library card. All classrooms are air conditioned along with a projector and white screen and also a white board with marker. Tcet also gives opportunities in sports such as cricket, football and other such sports. There are multiple clubs too for example The tcet green club, tcet shastra coding club, these clubs provide students extra co-curricular activities which enhances real life skills.

Admission

The admission can be done one of 2 ways either through JEE score or through MHT-CET score I went in through MHT-CET (most students get through this) the cut-off comes to be around 96 %ile for male general category and little bit less for other categories and around 94 %ile for people that fall under hindi minority. MHT-CET portal releases a form to enlist colleges according to your preference through this you can get admitted in a college. There are 3 admission rounds with lesser cutoff in every subsequent round. The MHTCET exam is conducted once per year every year around the month of march-may. The admission process is a bit lengthy if possible it should be reduced.

Faculty

3.5

Well most of the faculties have a masters degree and experience of over 10-20 years or maybe even more. One batch consits of around 60 students that are under one class teacher. But even among these 60 students 3 groups of 20 students is created and they are provided a separate mentor to handle issues and doubts. The teachers are almost always available they even receive calls and texts and respond quickly. Mentors are generally friendly with the students and have a frank and friendly behaviour towards students which helps us get comfortable and share our problems without hesitations.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The part of the curriculum that inspired me to take up this course is definitely applied mathematics as engineering has a lot of math integrated in it and helps the student to improve his/her logic and problem solving skills which are very important in today's job market. Some areas where I'd like the syllabus to improve are NEP related subjects like PPS, Indian Knowledge System etc. These courses are not related to the major but are included because of the New Education Policy(NEP). I feel that most of these courses are a complete waste of time and can be replaced by better courses.
