Course Curriculum Overview

4

my big brother was an engineer and one of his friends was from my college DMCE, so he got a good placement at that time with around 7 lpa. so he suggested I take that college as I was having an 86 percentile in the CET entrance. I chose computer engineering as software development is the new future for engineers in any department and luckily the college was new to my home location for about 10km so I chose to take that college. the course actually teaches about the concepts and theoretical parts for real-world kind of situations although we need to make sure that we are learning all the skills and making sure our skills match today's technical patch so that we can easily get the placements in the company. our college was to conduct 2 exams before the final semester exams called IA 1 and IA 2. This paper contained half portions of the syllabus of each of the subjects from the semesters.

Placement Experience

4

Placements took place in the college last year till then you can do any internships from your end but the placement scenario takes certain conditions that the student who is going to appear for the placement should not have any backlogs on any subjects and should minimum have 60% in the overall curriculum. Honestly, companies only hire students who have the skills for the desired role that they give. During my placement period, almost 8 to 9 companies came for campus placement including companies like Saint Gobain, Deloitte, tech-Mahindra, etc. But the number of companies came more for female candidates which makes them an additional benefit for placement. On average the placement package is about 4 lpa whereas the highest package was about 6 LPA for Saint Gobain and I got selected for 2 companies and the salary package was 4 LPA.

Fees and Financial Aid

I am a student belonging to a middle-class family so earlier when my admission procedure had begun I made an EWS certificate, which is available for students whose family income is less than 8 lakh per annum, luckily I got admission to the comps department news seat. So there is this category that only limited seats are available for these categories. Similarly, we had different categories too like TFWS, EWS, and EBC where TFWS students only pay about 12 thousand per year but it's only available for the students that belong to cast like NT, ST, etc. College doesn't provide any campus employment for the students, in fact, any of the colleges they do not provide this kind of facility but there are various committees in the college according to the department or at a college level where each of the students can contribute to the events or any workshops they are organizing for other students.

Campus Life

5

College events are the best time for an entire college life! Speaking about events in DMCE let's divide the events into different types. First, the event that is conducted in every department where each of the department had its own committees such as our comps department had CSI which is a nationalized committee, the IT department had GITS, the Civil department had fomes, and many more. Each of the committees organizes different kinds of events mainly hands-on sessions and seminars. The second event that appears in DMCE is MVM which is the Marathi Vangmai mandal where students from every department organize the event that promotes Marathi culture and the history of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and we also had guests last year we had Shiv Thakre who was the runner-up from Big Boss 16. The main college event is MILESTONE where the event happens for about 2 weeks it includes sports and an annual gathering which includes dance, singing, and price distribution of sports winners.

Admission

I chose computer engineering as I got suggested form my family members as I mentioned earlier. Every college has different cut-offs for different departments. For DMCE especially for the computer department, we had a cut-off of about 86 percentile while for students who wanted to get into the admission in IT department, the cut-off was about 92 percentile. The application form will be available for you from the university site only. Just we need to keep checking when the application dates will be released and the cut-off list for all the colleges will released. I dont think there should be any improvement for anything in the admission procedures because this process is very necessary for each of the students and each of the details and everything is very important but the only improvement would be that the procedures should be completed within a month because this takes 2 months approximately which reduces the spam of 1st sem.

I was from the COMP department and for our department we had 2 teachers for each of the subjects for each sem and along with these two teachers for subjects we had a teacher for our practices too. each of the subject teachers is highly qualified with PhD holders, some of them had actually written the books of Tech-neo of the subjects which are included in our syllabus. Each of the teachers had a one to one on a personal level of understanding towards the students and was always concerned about the student's future, as they regularly checked up on the internship opportunities for the students on their personal level and tried to give that opportunity for the students those are really concern about their internships and everything. Our teachers were available for us anytime as they used to interact with us in the groups and also on the calls whenever we needed them or any kind of help from them.

If one wants direct placements in comapnies such as Wipro, Cognizant, Hexaware, TCS and many more, SIT is the place. Highest is still unbeatable as one student in 2023 got a paycheck of 50 lakhs per annum from SIT. Even the average is over 10 lakhs now as most students are placed through SIT placements cell.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is also good and it is explained in detail on the college's website and there are labs for the courses which made learning fast and easy. Relevance(industry alignment)->8/10 The curriculum is designed to keep up with the industry needs especially in fast growing fields like computer science, management, design and pharmacy. Updated course such as AI, machine learning, cybersecurity, data science and 3D printing are included for tech students. Industry exposure depends on the students initiative it's not equally strong in every department. Comprehensiveness-> 7.5/10 First year courses focus on building strong basics in science, mathematics and communication skills. Later semesters introduce specialisation, electives, research projectsand soft skill training. The curriculum also includes personality development, entrepreneurship and innovation modules. A few departments could integrate new technologies fatser into the syllabus. Practical v/s theoretical balance: Labs, workshops and real world projects are a core part of the structure, especially in engineering, design, and science programs. CIA like case studies, presentations, and assignments encourage hands on learning. However, in some programs, there is a still heavier focus on the theory, so students must actively seek extra learning resources
