What Students Say
Likes
- The faculties of our department were very enthusiastic, they helped me a lot throughout the course. They were supportive in terms of academics as well a personal development.
- The management would always take initiative in sending us to Symposiums as well as Competition within and outside the state for us to gain exposure and experience.
- We had full freedom in choosing our own subjects, from a really wide range, enabling us in diversifying the knowledge we were gaining. Most of the subjects offered were career oriented.
Dislikes
- The lack of infrastructure, our classrooms were really old and outdated, furniture and cleanliness were seldom maintained. Most of the buildings were in a dilapidated condition, some of them even posing safety risks.
- The campus has a lot of "Moral Policing", girls are not allowed to even get food from the campus canteen post 6 pm. Boys and Girls can't walk together, can't sit together, forget surviving as a couple here.
- The managements curriculum and policies are quite outdated and not anywhere capable of making the students industry ready. It is only through a few faculties' sincere attempts that students actually learn something useful.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum was very outdated in terms of what was being taught at other colleges at that time. It was nowhere enough to get industry ready. Most concepts dealt were very outdated and it lacked inputs of current standards, practices and improvements in the field. The curriculum can use a revamp, updates from the current scenario of the industry should be added rather than talking about outdated topics that don't get used in the present day. Exams were conducted at regular intervals, the difficulty was intermediate and faculties helped every single student in achieving a good score.
Internships Opportunities
College didn't provide any form of internship or stipend. Even as an architecture student, I have intership as a part of my course, we had to find it on our own. Community service projects only happen on paper and doesn't really happen here, which is also a part of the syllabus.
Fees and Financial Aid
Tuition fee was fixed at 1,20,000 per annum throughout the course duration. Hostel fee however kept increasing from 70,000 to upto 1,00,000 to the end of the course. Complete cost per semester would be 1,30,000. 1,20,000 tuition fee plus 10,000 as miscellaneous. Students can avail scholarships based on their GPA, NATA, JEE scores as well, it would range anywhere from 40% to 60% off of the yearly fee. There are no campus employment opportunities or stipends
Campus Life
The annual festival is named 'Sparkz' and it usually happens in the month of April, it's an inter college fest, having both technical and non-technical events. Other inter college festivals are Euphoria, happens in March, and various other Hackathons. Library has all academic resources, but forget any literature, because the management only considers song and dance as art. Classrooms are normal in nature ; fans, some work some don't ; power points, work work some don't ; wifi, you've won the lottery if it works. In terms of sports, there's a college level sports club, conducting various sporting events throuout the year. There's also NSS and NCC Students run clubs, include Fine arts club ( but only song and dance, everything else is not considered a fine art here) Nature club, Photography club, Tamil language club, Tourism club.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel accomodation starts at 70,000. This will get you a Non-AC, Non-Bath attached room of 80-100 square feet. Here you'll be bunking with 5 others. You'll all have one table to share. For bathing and washing you have to use a common washing and bathing area. The next level is Non-AC Bath attached room, this will cost you 90,000. Here you'll be bunking with 3 others. You'll have 2 tables to share. The bathroom is cleaned by a janitor once a week. Clothes can be given for laundry, if you give your clothes today expect them the same day next week. The next level is AC Bath attached room, this will cost you 1,20,000. AC is the only change here. The food you can avail, Tamil style mess or Andhra style mess. Veg and Non-Veg is available. The food is really bad, it's really bad. The food will be good the day you come to take admission, but one week later, god bless you. Due to all this, students after 2nd year will take a place outside the campus.
Admission
50% pcm aggregate, plus NATA/JEE scores was the eligibility criteria. Application form can be found online and costs 1000. Entrance exams are conducted every year, with medium difficulty, shouldn't be an issue to crack if you have a background in writing JEE.
Faculty
Few of the faculties were really good, at finding what skill the students were good at and encouraging that skill, also along with the normal curriculum. Most of our faculties were highly qualified from prestigious institutions. However there were some bad apples, you were really under qualified for the really high posts they held. The faculty to Student ratio was also quite low, 40% of our staff were guest lecturers, so getting hold of them to clear doubts was only possible when we come to the campus twice of thrice a week for classes. Most faculties actually went out of their way in filling the gaps of our outdated curriculum so that they could provide us a fighting chance with the present day industry, flipped classroom method of teaching, seminars, various projects and hands on experiences helped us better understand topics.
