What Students Say
Likes
- the diversity of the people here. In a class of 60 we have more than one person from almost every state in india. We also have students from bangladesh and some arab countries studying with us.
- the fests and events are organised and executed in such a grand way.
- The campus- so green and vast and a lot of things to explore. the hugeness of the campus also means that there are a lot more sports grounds to play in
Dislikes
- the heat — trichy is usually verryyy hot. The trees shade sometimes makes up for it, but when you’re in class that’s a diff experience
- the curfew for girls while boys dont have any curfew
Course Curriculum Overview
im talking architecture and i think the syllabus is a little outdated. having said that, the professors still try their best to keep things engaging and informative. We have study trips and projects which i think are awesome for learning through practical experiences
Internships Opportunities
from year one the college sends out government aided internship oppurtunities, skill building courses and other schemes to improve the individual. The third year is when internship becomes compulsory for all students.
Placement Experience
The placements in our campus for B Tech students in definitely top 5 in this country. Salaries averagin at 20 lpa has been the standard for the past few years. The placements for architecture are a little glim, but I guess that's the case everywhere
Fees and Financial Aid
The year wise fee payment structure is split into two semester- july sem and january sem. The july sen is usually called the odd semester and the jan one is called the even semester. The institution fees during the odd semester (july) is usually more than that for even semesters. the institute fees are around 93000 for the odd sem and around 64000 during the even sem (except for the first sem for which the institute fees is 1.22 lakh. And this is for general, open ews, iccr and related categories. For SC, ST and PWD students, they need to pay institute fees of about 33000 - 27000 (except for the first sem, you need to pay 60000 including the one time fees)
Campus Life
There's something for everybody. i dont think anyone studying at NIT trichy is gonna fall short in experiencing that movie-sque, fun filled, rollercoaster ride called college. The social groups and clubs are active as ever
Admission
my first choice was nit tricky cuz it was closer to home and a well renowned institution. The rest of my friends mostly applied for private institutions, but couldn't get it cuz of high demand or high fees or quota related issues. The admission process for nit was much more transparent in that aspect. However most of the information was relayed right before the dates we were supposed to report on, so that was a bit stressful. But otherwise the process is quite seamless and they have a line always open for clarifying doubts and queries
Faculty
the faculty members make their own course plans- that includes when they're gonna teach what and how they're gonna do it. Some teachers only consider written exams for grading while others conduct all the exams for grading through speaking assessments. Some teachers take us on trips while others only conduct lectures. It varies from teacher to teacher
Night Life
Girls have curfew (9 30 pm), so nightlife is something we dont get to enjoy as much. But during the evening we have a lot of cafes and canteens inside the campus that we hangout at. CCD and Anjappar are popular spots
