Likes
- There are dozens of things about NIT Trichy which are exceptional but to name the best it has to be the alumni network that our college has.
- Civil is indeed one of the oldest branch of the college and therefore its a privilege to study civil engineering from here.
- Our tech fest Pragyan is next to IIT Bombays tech fest as students from all too colleges are invited to participate in our tech fest.
Dislikes
- Our academic schedule is more hectic than anyone and therefore it is hard to take time out for many important things.
Course Curriculum Overview
I would have opted any other NIT and have got CSE department but even Civil from NIT Trichy is better than CSE from many colleges around. I have lived a charmed life with my course as we are taught practically how civil engineering works. So, for practicals we don't have to go out much as our campus has it all.
Placement Experience
After two years of hard training that is in second and third year, we get placements opportunities with top infra builders. Not just dosmetoc companies but international companies like Emmar MGF has also hired students from our college. Gulf developers and many such has offered us placements worth 30 lakhs or even know access. Around 85% is the placements ratio and 9-10 lakhs is what one and average students of our branch from NIT Trichy are paid.
Fees and Financial Aid
NIT Trichy is not just one of the oldest but is also the number one ranked NIT in our country. The fees is slightly in the higher range as 3 lakhs a year is what one has to pay for engineering if they are from General category otherwise 50% scholarships for SC/ST students is fixed.
Campus Life
800 acres huge campus with 6 auditoriums and around 20 canteens. It's amazing to live in a campus which is city in itself. Around 3500 students and staff live in the campus and we have commuting means like autos available in our campus. Our cultural annual fest is celebrated in February every year and is therefore called Festember.
Hostel Facilities
There are around 8 boys hostels and we have two seater and three seater rooms. Earlier I was in a three seater rooms for which we had to pay 80000 but now shifted to a two seater room and for which I have to pay 126000. Little more but facilities and especially the food is such that fees doesn't look hefty at all.
Admission
AIEEE rankings decide your admission in NITs. For NIT Trichy your rank has to be in top 1000 out of 1 million applicants. What else can you expect than that admission process has to be a little complex as there are rounds and through them only you get final confirmation.
Faculty
Teaching is the best part of academics and te number one for so long means we have best faculties. Two of them have been teaching civil engineering since last 2 decades or more and have been a part of all the changes that have happened in the course. They have kept their chin up and also expects the same from us as engineering is certainly not everyone's cup of tea.
Night Life
Trichy is among one of the most developed cities of Tamil Nadu and is therefore full of special gyms cafes and some night out hang out spots. Hostels though on weekdays have an in time of 9 pm but on Saturdays we can take an out pass and chill with friends at a nearby CCD outlet.
