Course Curriculum Overview

4

Course curicullum is well planned. For my branch, it is little inclined towards mathematics rather than coding. It is the thing which influenced to take this course. The thing which i loved is that the department often discusses about curicullum with persons working in renowed companies, so that it can make us that capacable. So i think that this course plan can make us good enough for real world applications. There are atleast four exams for a subject in a semester. It includes two quizes, midterm and endterm. The difficulty level is very good.

Internships Opportunities

4

A student can go for internship after 4th semester. There are many companies which offers internship imcluding Google, Microsoft etc. Stipend starts from 40k and goes upto 1.5-2 lack per month. Many of them offer PPO also based on performance of individual.

Placement Experience

4

This college is known for its placements. It starts from third year. In 2022, around 400 companies visited our campus. In 2023, highest package is 54 lpa and average package is 18 lpa. Around 92% students got placed and 3-4% went for higher studies. After completing my graduation, i want to get placed in a very good company as data scientist.

Fees and Financial Aid

Tuition is 62500 for a semester. Which sums as 500000. Then there are are other charge which include one-time charges and per year charges. Other fees will increase by 5% every year. Mess and hostel fees is around 35000 per semester. Total fees for a year is around 2 lacks. It includes everthing. Many scholarships are there such as merit cum scholarship and many are based on caste. So ST-SC-Pwd can avail them. Other than this, 100% tution fee remession is provided to students having family income less than 1 lack per annum or if they are ST-SC-Pwd. 2/3 tuition fee remession is for student having family income less than 5 lack per annum. I think there is no campus employement here.

Campus Life

4

There are two festivals. Technical festival is called 'Engineer'. It is generally held in october. Cultural festival is called 'Incident'. It is held in feb-march. Books and joutnals are easily available in library. We can take 4 items once at a time for 15 days. After that we have to renew them. All classrooms have been equiped with projectors. Sports facility is also good. There are many tournament for students for all kind of sports. There are around more than 20 clubs including technical clubs, sports, astronomy, art and business. There are 2-3 student-run social groups. One of them is 'Ashraya'

Hostel Facilities

3.5

In our room, we have one almirah, one table, one chair, one bed, one slab. We have separate LAN ports. Water facility is on every floor along with toilets and bathrooms. Registration for hostel and mess is done through IRIS. It is an app made by NITK students. Meal quality is average. It is less spicy but good for body. Menu comprises of both north indian and south indian dishes.

Admission

I gave JEE Mains exam and secured a rank of 4k. I applied through Josaa counseling. After getting seat in NITK, I got instruction for further things on e-mail. The whole process was not that difficult. Then all final things are done in college once you come there on reporting date. Reservation for seat is given according to caste and gender in certain ratio.

Faculty

3

Almost all teachers are well qualified. Most of them are from karnataka and kerala. I can't say anything about faculty-to-student ratio but we have never face such situation. Their way of teaching is also good and any student can interact with them in the class as well as during other time. We can mail or message them if there is somethig important.

This is the best part. The whole point of niat program is to get a study for the job. It's not like the old system where you chill for 3 years and panic in the 4th year. All the learning here are very different. From the first day itself we will be doing coding.
