What Students Say
Likes
- The college campus is beautiful, with so much greenery around it's quite calming to the eyes, especially for the students.
- The hostel food preparation and service is salubrious. The staff wears gloves, with proper cap and uniform.
Dislikes
- Placement support especially for MBA in Human Resources and English Honours is negligible. The highest package for HR is 3 lakh/yr, inspite of having internship experience and capability.
- Hostel food is below average, with potato as the prominent ingredient in veg items. No seasonal vegetables cooked
- Mode of teaching was vernaculars especially during my days of English Honours, this was also a despondency.
Course Curriculum Overview
I had chosen MBA dual specialization, only to get into HR. But sadly, the placement support for students with HR major is negligible. We are not taught practical concepts rather the focus is more upon theory.
Internships Opportunities
The only internship offered was of Sales, with companies like The Reader's Club and ITC. One was online and the other proper field job. Both were unpaid. This is the reason I did my internship from Tata Motors Ltd with it's HR department, which was a self search.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for campus placement from the second last semester. Big 4's have blacklisted Adamas because the students they recruited in the past left the company without serving notice period. Most of the companies visiting, are start-ups. Placement support as I already mentioned earlier, is negligible especially for HR. Highest package in MBA sales was 11 lakhs, incentive included. Since, I didn't get satisfactory offers, I am trying to find an opportunity on my own.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees for MBA is 6.10 for 2 years. But since, I was an existing student of English Major, I had received a discount. The hostel fees for double bed non-ac is 95000 per year. Students with AC room cannot use AC in the college hours, except for the weekends. They have to pay for the winter season too, where there is no use of AC. There was an increase in the hostel fees, a hike of 500 with passing years. Placement support for English Honours and MBA HR, is negative. I did my internship from Tata Motors Ltd, which was off-campus (it was a self-search). The only internship provided from the college was in ITC, that to only Sales. No industry visits except 1 in the past 5 years.
Campus Life
Tech fests like Hackathon are held. We also host a cultural fest ADINOVA which is held ever year, where celebrity singers are booked. Student portals glitch and are under maintenance most of the times. Most of the smart boards are defective, washrooms are unhygienic and stenchy. Huge classrooms lack more than one AC. There are a lot of club activities, I had been the student coordinator of one such, The Scribblers Writer's Club. College has provision of indoor and outdoor games and sports like carrom, badminton, football, etc. There are match and film screenings every alternate weekend.
Hostel Facilities
No facility of washing machine. Use of electronic appliances like kettle, hair-dryer and iron is prohibited. Rooms are small and stuffy, walls get damp easily. Menu is dominated by potato in the name of veggies. No seasonal vegetables cooked. Meals lack variety. Although hygienic, food is bland.
Admission
Once you register yourself into the admission portal of the college website, you will get a call from the admission cell. They will provide you all the details, regarding course and fee structure, they will also send you the link for the admission form. If you have appeared for XAT or CAT it's a plus, however you are also eligible even if you have not. You have to then take AUAT which is the entrance test. There are 2-3 levels of telephonic interviews too, especially by the Dean and the faculty.
Faculty
The teachers were quite approachable, except some who didn't have an amiable personality especially during my MBA days. Teachers provided us with enough materials to study from, for the exam. Classes were interactive most of the time, but lacked practicality. Mode of teaching/ communication was mostly vernaculars which was s major disappointment, because people hailing from the NORTH-EAST, faced difficulty in understanding.
Interview Experience
I had appeared for AUAT which is the Adamas entrance test. Apart from that I faced several telephonic interviews, especially from the Dean and faculty members. Interview questions included, the reason for enrolling in this programme, why did I choose MBA after English Honours, something about the top 5 MNCs I want to get into. Discussion about the finance ministry.
Other Applied Colleges
Christ University | Master of Business Administration [MBA] (Human Resource Management)
Since, I was an existing student of Adamas as an English Literature Major, I thought why not continue here. And moreover, I had received an existing student scholarship discount on my course fees
