What Students Say
Likes
- The Faculty is amazing, we have teachers from all over North India, who have done their post graduations from prestigious colleges like PGI Chandigarh,Igmc shimla
- the clinical exposure to patients is the the one thing you'll never lack in this college, there are literally hundreds or even thousands of patients visiting everyday and admitted in the wards for various treatments
- The extra curricular activities that are organised like poster making competition, quiz competitions, role plays and nukkar nataks, they all keep our spirits up
Dislikes
- The campus is the only one thing that is lacking in our college, the new building which was supposed to be completed 3 years back is still not constructed and the work is halted.
Course Curriculum Overview
The updated NMC curriculum is entirely focused on the practical knowledge as we as future doctors will need to treat patients after we graduate, even the theory questions are practical oriented. The only thing that I wish was better would be the exam datesheet, there are barely any preparatory leaves between the exams .
Internships Opportunities
The college itself has a provision for mandatory 1 year long internship after our 4.5 year long curriculum. The internship is paid, so yayy and we get to have a first hand experience in performing all the clinical procedures and treating the patients.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure is quite appropriate, as it is decided by the state government and is far better than the private medical colleges. After the completion of our 4.5 years of study, all the students undergo mandatory one year paid internship,to develop our skills .
Campus Life
Well I have to agree the campus is very small compared to other colleges , but we still make the best out of it. There is a cultural society, literary club, sports club. We get permission to conduct matches and tournaments in the government sports complex and also an annual college fest is also organised every year for 3 days which a fun.
Hostel Facilities
The hostels are nice, shared rooms in the first year and then we get single rooms. The food is okay compared to what I've heard from other medical colleges. Though the hostel is about 3-4 kms away from the college ,but transport is provided.
Admission
To get admission into such prestigious government medical college , I appeared for the NEET exam in the year 2020. Though the preparation required a lot of hardwork and sacrifices, it was all worth it in the end. I scored 549 marks in NEET 2020 to get admission into this college.
Faculty
The Faculty is amazing, teachers from prestigious institutes like PGI Chandigarh, IGMC Shimla, and various other North Indian colleges are a member of our college. They are skilled physicians who not only teach us theory portions ,but also demonstrate the practical medicine approach and interaction with patients.
