What Students Say
Likes
- The Lush green and well maintained campus spread in 150 Acres is one of the best things that NITJ have.
- Faculties are very experienced and have expertise in their field as the faculties here are PhDs.
- The new curriculum allows students to explore their own branch core subjects since the very first semester also there's a compulsory credit dedicated for co curriculum in first year.
Dislikes
- The Training and Placement Cell of NITJ still needs to improve alot.
- Being the peak temperature of 45°C in Jalandar, Hostels are still equipped with only fans and installation of any electronic device is not allowed.
- Lack of industrial exposure is there as curriculum only focuses on learning more rather than application.
Course Curriculum Overview
Everything is pretty managed and ordered in curriculum as it covers almost everything that one needs to learn as an engineer but still what it's lacking is introduction to many new technologies that are being developed, curriculum stull focuses on a large amount to time to learn the technologies that are so primitive that those are not being used even a decade ago.
Internships Opportunities
Still a lot of improvement needs to be done as internship opportunities are really poor, very few companies visit institute to offer internships and remaining students manage to have internships on their own.
Placement Experience
Though Placements here are somewhat satisfactory as compared to the situation outside but still the Training and Placement Cell needs to improve a lot. Overall placement percentage of College is good with an average package of around 7 LPA (I got placed at Reliance Industries at 7.5 LPA)
Fees and Financial Aid
Being a National Institute of Technology, a government college, it is really affordable and also provides various waviers in fee for OBC students economically weak and the students whose family income is less than 5 LPA. Institute tuition fee is completely waived off for SC/ST Students and all those whose family income is less than 1 LPA.
Campus Life
Campus life of NITJ is quite decent, though it doesn't provide extraordinary campus life Pvt colleges or top IITs or NITs but still anyone who's willing to enjoy his/her 4 years here joining various clubs, enjoying fests, hanging out with friends in canteens, or even studying alone in library, he/she will not get disappointed.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facilities provided here are somewhat average and will provide only very basic amenities like bed , table chair, cupboard, light and fan. None of the hostels provide air conditioned or even cooler rooms which makes it very difficult for students at summers are quite hot here. Mess menu and quality is completely managed by student committee hence the food is ok. Hostel registrations and fee payments are done online and fee is around 90K yearly including everything.
Admission
Admission process is same as that of any other IITs or NITs as the seat is allotted on the basis of JEE Mains rank after JoSAA and CSAB Councelling rounds and the cutoffs to secure a seat in my course i.e. BTech in Textile Technology was around 50K rank in JEE Mains for other state General males.
Faculty
Faculty to student ratio is quite good as I never faced any difficulty in reaching out to them, moreover all the faculties here are PhDs and well experienced to industries and many of them share their experiences frequently with the children.
Other Applied Colleges
The LNM Institute of Information Technology - [LNMIIT] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Mechanical Engineering)
College Fee was exceptionally high.
