SIKKIM UNIVERSITY AT A GLANCE

The course is fully research-oriented. As we have to understand the psychology so its basically a practical subject. The curriculum provides a lot of opportunities to gain practical knowledge and participate in various outdoor activities and competitions. Internships and research works are assigned to the students. The course can emphasize more on internships and field-based practicals.

Students are provided permission letters for their internship in various institutions or hospital settings. university does not pay any stipends for internships. Since the course is research-based, various projects are implemented.

Sikkim University is one of the cheapest universities to pursue one's favourite course. Though the area is expensive but course fee structure is really low and thus affordable for everyone. The semester fee hardly surpasses 1000 for many courses. Students from the EWS category are provided Merit cum Income Based Scholarships, around 3k-7k per month. Hostel fees are very low in comparison to many other universities.

Numerous Annual Fests such as Ramailo Sukhim, Cultural Community Meets, Awareness Programs, and Festival celebrations are vibrantly commemorated and celebrated in the University. Plenty of online journals and stars of books are available in the library. Every student is provided access to the same. Classrooms are equipped with advanced technologies, important facilities and multipurpose laboratories along with multitasking staff. Annual Sports fests are also organized once every year. Various socio-cultural groups such as Eco-club, social clubs, drama clubs, dance clubs, cultural clubs, Bengali society, Assamese society, etc are run by the students.

Hostels are provided with all the necessary facilities. There are different types of rooms starting from two bedded rooms to dormitory type rooms. However, dormitories are not very hygienic and congested. Food Quality is not up to the mark. One can register for a hostel during the admission. Rents are available everywhere, in Gangtok but very expensive.

Eligibility of the courses is 12th with 55%. Application forms, fees, dates and other notifications are available on the official website of the university. Reservations are provided to sc, st, obc.

The faculty-to-student ratio is 1:20, every student gets equal treatment from all the faculties. Highly experienced faculties use innovative and up-to-date approaches in their teaching methods. Faculties try to provide a competitive and interactive surrounding by introducing various assignments and activities. Students can freely interact with their professors on any open day and at any time. Students are allowed to feel free and comfortable to come up to their professors with any doubts or ideas.
