Likes
- Firstly the location, though the universe has an open campus but it is situated in the heart of the city and therefore it is surrounded by the major railway Station, bus stop, water ways etc. Other than that the Central Bank, Post office etc.
- Secondly, the facilities, the university has central library with various kinds of books, it has its own indoor stadium, gymnasium, theater hall, conference hall, etc. Other facilities includes, hi-tech and modern laboratories and modern classrooms
- Thirdly, the teachers and professors and very knowledgeable, friendly and approachable. They are very good in coping up with the course in due time with full explanations. The Examinations Cell has expertise in conducting the examination smoothly.
Dislikes
- The University Campus is comparatively a little small and it therefore sometimes causes hindrance in conducting a major events.
- Since the University is surrounded by the Railway Station, and other public transportation services the area always stays crowded and busy.
- The campus being near the State High Court, Revenue Office, Office of Police Commissioner sometime faces problems with the road as it gets extremely busy during the Office hours and during the Visit of any Officials
Course Curriculum Overview
The Geology, or the study of earth inside, has lots of opportunities and placements. This course has a lot of field studies with provides direct jobs in Oil excavation and refining, Coal extraction, Geological Survey of India, Construction of major civil projects like dams Dams, Bridges etc. Other than this, the course also provides a student to study abroad and in top IITS. Beside this the Department of Geology, Cotton University need a little improvement in the laboratory section at it is located a little far way from the classrooms. The examinations are conducted once in every two months with immediate applications of the course taught in the class.
Internships Opportunities
The PACCC, Placement and Career Counseling Cell, Cotton University gives many successful placement in extremely good places. The PACCC also conducts various seminars, conferences etc. with top colleges, business organizations and other successful entrepreneurs both related to academics and non-academics. Many job interviews along with campus placements in top corporate offices etc. Many students from the department of Geology has received successful placements the top companies including the Oil India Limited, Numaligarh, Assam as Junior Manager. Beside this many others from different departments has also received opportunity in teaching profession as an university professor immediately after their completion of the Doctorate Degree (PhD)
Placement Experience
The PACCC, Placement and Career Counseling Cell, Cotton University is one of its best, it has a rich history in giving successful placement in extremely good places. The PACCC also conducts various seminars, conferences etc. with top colleges, business organizations and other successful entrepreneurs both related to academics and non-academics. Students from 5th Semester onwards gets the opportunities to be a part of various extracurricular activities related to placement and others, many students form the Department of Geology has got seat in top IITs and foreign Universities through the PACCC, Cotton University. Me personally wants to apply for IIT-JEM examination to study the Master degree in Geology in top IITs of India.
Fees and Financial Aid
The Geology course of the university has a fair price. To be honest it is value for money, there are no hidden costs other than the admission course which is taken once in a years, there are no extra coat of laboratory etc. Students belonging the economically backwards/weaker sections has a fee waiver scheme which provides them with 80% to 90% discount on the admission cost. Till date the Geology department has provided many successful placements to the students in top places as it has its own placement cell.
Campus Life
The campus life of Cotton University is very delightful. A huge numbers of events takes place within the campus every year which includes the Versity week, CUCS general election, plantation drive and campus cleaning tour, run for peace, run for health events, visiting of famous personalities including singers, dancer, political personalities, scientists, business entrepreneurs etc. Beside this the library has extremely huge number of book of both academic and others including noble, journals, research papers which are updated every month. Every classroom is facilitate with digital board, 24×7 water supply, air ventilation etc. The university also has the indoor as well as outdoor stadiums, gymnasium for all kinds of sports events with expert trainers and educators. It also has many actively working social groups running by the ex-students as well as present students.
Admission
The admission in the undergraduate program of Geology was confident by CUET based Marit List which was published by the NTA. The admission in the Cotton University was offline based, where the students were given admission on the basis of their Cuet score. The students from reservation categories (SC, ST and OBC) had a little advantage in getting the admission as the cut-off marks for those categories of students were much less. The application form for admission, the admission date and fees required for admission in the respective courses were published much earlier in the University's official website as well as in other social platforms. The admission process has a few flaws as it has the first come first system, therefore the students having comparably less score found a little problem while getting their desired course.
Faculty
To be a part of the faculty of the university one needs a minimum qualification of Masters Degree in the respective subjects which has now upgraded to Doctorate Degree. The number of faculties varies in every department, but has a minimum of 10 faculties (teaching staff) in each department. They are always available for help and support. Other than this the University conducts a mentor-mantee program every week to take a look into the students program in both studies and other fields.
