COEP REVIEW BY A CS STUDENT

The curriculum of COEP is pretty much similar to that of IITS. It follows a orthodox curriculum which has its pros and cons. The core subjects are very good which gives knowledge about our course from basics and also helps for future opportunities like Gate. There are few things that can be better like removing the IFC course which is of different branch that I don't feel useful. Also here we have 3 exams in a semester which makes our schedule hectic instead of that there should be only 2 exams in a semester.

Coep provides internship opportunities to the students of 3rd year.Alot of companies visit campus at the start to academic year to take interviews for internships. Students get internship at alot of prominent companies like MasterCard,citi bank, Deutsche Bank, oracle etc which provides PPO to alot of candidates of COEP.

Placements of COEP are quite impressive for all the branches. Speaking of my branch Computer Engineering, the average and median package was around 16-17 lpa. Alot of companies visit COEP during the placement season. Around 85% of students were placed in last academic year. Highest package given was 52lpa.

College fee for general students who come from cet is around 90k which is pretty decent and for category students it drops till 10k based on the category. Fee for students who come from jee mains is around 1 lakhs. College provides all kinds of scholarships provided by government to the necessary students. Also alumni of COEP provides scholarship to the needy students.

COEP conducts 5 flagships fests namely Impressions, Mindspark, Zest, Pune Startup Fest and Regatta which are held on a grand scale. There are total 52 active clubs in COEP which work continuously to be better in what they do from technical sector to social work there is a club for everything. Sports facilities are also great and college actively participates in the sports fests conducted by various other colleges. There is a central library for students from where they can borrow books to read.many departmenta also have their own library which gives students a wide range of books to refer.

Hostel facilities are decent. Hostel allotment happens on basis of CGPA, all the students don't get hostel in COEP. Facilities provided include bed, cupboard,table ,chair, mattress,etc . There is wifi installed throughout the hostel campus. There is a canteen in hostel campus itself which is open till 11pm at night. Meal quality in mess is pretty decent and similar to every mess and there is wide variety of food served throughout the week. Hostel fee currently is 45k.

Admission process is quite simple in COEP .Most of the process is online and in one day you can complete the offline process. The Cutoff of Computer Engineering general category is 99.5 percentile in Cet and for JEE MAINS it is around 98.5 percentile and it decreases based on the categories.

Most of the faculties of COEP are PhD holders and have a great amount of experience in this field. Faculties are always open to answer the doubts of the students and don't get angry on asking repeatedly. Faculty to student ratio is good in all the departments and it helps facilities to observe every student and give input on them.
