Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Biomedical engineering is a highly emerging field after the recent outburst of covid virus recently. Our curriculum prepares us for the industry-level standards by performing labs and demonstrations on industry-level equipment like ECG, EMG, Electron Microscope, Atomic force microscope, EEG ( brain signal reading ), etc. The teaching method of the professors is very great. Our curriculum is a little outdated and it also needs to consider the advancement the recent technologies like the use of AI and new machine learning algorithms in the biomedical field. There are 2 major exams each semester. One is the mid-semester exam and the other is the end-semester exam. Apart from these, there can be various other class tests and assignments which is completely based on professor-to-professor.

Fees and Financial Aid

As with other NITs, NIT Rourkela has a very minimum fee structure of around Rs 1,98,000 per year for general categories students whose family income is above 5 lakhs per annum. Students having a family income below 5 lakhs get a 2/3 fee waiver in the tuition fees which is 62,500 for normal students. Also, students having a family income below 1 lakh per annum get a complete fee waiver for tuition fees. Different Scholarships are provided by our campus for all types of students based on CG, family income, girl candidate, requirement, etc. These scholarships are sponsored by our Institute alumni (NITRAA association). These NITRAA scholarship applications are opened each semester. Apart from these students of NITR also received scholarships such as the NSP scholarship, the Meddhavi Engineering Scholarship.

Campus Life

5

Our campus is a very big 1200-acre campus that flourished with great greenery and flowers. Our institute provides one of the best campus life to a student. The fests and celebrity nights are one of the golden periods of the campus. Our institute has 4 fests per year and 1 celebrity night every year. The largest one is INNOVISION, which is the largest technical fest in East India. We have all the basic and advanced facilities in our departments as well as hostels, equipped with automatic washing machines and proper water coolers. We have a very huge club activities culture and its very active here at NITR. There are more than 50 Clubs here at NITR in all domains.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Our institute charges 10,000 rupees for hostel rent per semester. Our room consists of all basic requirements such as a table, chair, bed, and LAN cable connection. There is no AC provided in the hostel rooms. Apart from that there are sufficient automatic watching machines, water heaters in bathrooms, and water coolers for drinking water. Mess food quality varies from hostel to hostel. We have here a pure veg cafeteria where pure veg food is served without onion and garlic. Here both boys and girls can come and take their food. The quality of food in the Pure Veg cafeteria is significantly good than other hostels.

Admission

Admission the program was done by Jossa Counseling followed by clearing the JEE Entrance exam. According to our year admission, we got this Biomedical branch for around 97 percentile for other stage general categories students and around 95 Percentile for OBC categories other state students. Students belonging to Odisha state have lower cut-off than the mentioned here.

Faculty

4.5

Being in a Biomedical branch here faculty-to-student ratio is very good. Our batch consists of 40 students only in a single class. Every student gets proper attention and a good interaction with the professors. Our faculty in the Biomedical branch are highly qualified and have good teaching experience. They are very cooperative and supportive. Most of the professors carry out their research work after their classes. Many professors in our department have some patents for their research work and findings. Our proffers are highly approachable. Even a 1st yr student can apply to join his/her lab and start contributing in the research work of the professor and gets a hands on experience in the project.

Placement Experience:

the placement is also not that much great. they are very few companies TCS and Infosys are the mass recuriter here . The core companies are close to null . So you have to go to only to the IT companies that to at a very low package . My students work for as low as 2.5 lac per annum . This year almost everybody was between 3lac to 10lac bracket . The highest on campus package are about 25 lac . Not more than that most of time. and the average package is almost about 3-4 lac per annum . The percentage of the students placed is also really bad . Most of the students have to hurdle by himself.

I choose this course because at first I was interested to automobile engineering but I didn't got it from other college so I preffered this mechanical engineering. It is a very though course as it seems. And there was 1:7 for faculty and student ratio. Faculties were highly qualified and some did PhD and m. Tech and other are fresher. The teaching skill differ person to person. The thermodynamics faculty was very excellent. In every year there was 2 semester and it is a little difficult. And before semester there was internal and viva.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Padmanava College of engineering is coming under Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT , odisha). As there is always a myth about private colleges that they help in cheating but from my experience padmanava College is strictly against cheating and rather it supports quality of education. If you are a hard working student you will pass the exam very easily.
