Remarks

I would suggest one to think a hundred times before choosing this particular institute. The management is really slow and get agitated really fast if asked about something.

Entrance Preview

I am a biology student and therefore I was looking for a college that offers a bachelors programme which interests me. Moreover, Symbiosis has its own brand name which took my attention while selecting a college. Their website gives an amazing insight into what exactly the programme is all about and how well they’ll place their students. But, the sad part is that there are absolutely no placements for this course. Also, there were no proper faculties for guidance and the infrastructure for accommodating such a huge number of students isn’t there. Also, the website displays everything about the MBA programme and their main focus is MBA in Hospital and Healthcare Management. But the placements for MBA HHM are also going through a drastic downfall with a really high fees structure.

Course Curriculum Overview

1.5

This course is for three years and comprises of six semesters. The number of subjects in each semester keeps on changing. Also, after the first year ends, students need to give an SOP for selecting the desired specialization out of the six which are: Cardiac Care, Dialysis, Respiratory Therapy, Clinical Lab, OT & Anaesthesia and Imaging Science. The specialization is allowed on merit basis. During the second year (semester 3) of the course, they start allowing hospitals to the students for observation which is every alternate week.

Internships Opportunities

Well, talking about internships, yes, we are supposed to do internship post the course for around three months which is called the On-Job-Training (OJT) for which the college provides no assistance and its mandatory for every student to do it and get a certificate without any fail because in case of no OJT certificate the college doesn’t hand over the final semester marksheet.

Placement Experience

0.5

There are zero placements after this course. The college doesn’t not have any campus placements whereas the website shows that there are placements in companies like Philips, Siemens, Ranbaxy etc but those are only for those who either pursue MSc. or MBA from the same college. The fees structure for a simple BSc. degree from this institute costs in lakhs per annum with absolutely no placements and references.

College Events

1.5

There is just one event every year which is common for all the students who come under the Faculty Of Health and Biomedical Science (BSc., MSc. and MBA HHM). This is an event that has sports activities and cultural activities and is for two whole days. The college has no fest which is one of the most essential element in a college life. The college has traditional day which is organised and conducted by the students only with prior permission. The college doesn’t even give a freshers party and in case students plans it on their own and any faculty member gets to know, the college creates a huge scene out of it. At last, there is no official farewell for the BSc. and MSc. students. They just have a small farewell party for the MBAs.

Fee Structure And Facilities

It’s super expensive for a programme like BSc. which can easily be done in much lesser expense from a great university like DU or anyother. The college also increased its fees every year drastically with no more improvements in the quality of infrastructure or faculties. There was just an increase in the fees every single year and nobody explained why.

Fees and Financial Aid

I don’t know about the loan facility but yes, the college offers the scholarship to international students at the time of admissions. During the course I was honored with scholarships twice for being the class topper and the amount is adjusted in your fees for next year.

Campus Life

1

The campus is quite chilled out with great gym facilities. There is a canteen called symbi eat which provides nice food and desserts. About the Institute, the infrastructure is poor. It gets difficult to adjust all the students in a single classroom. The skills lab are recently constructed hence, look nice but the equipment are lacking and are damaged. Coming to sports, the students need to take a lot of effort and travel to the outskirts of the city where the university is located to avail the sports facility. There’s no playground in the SB road campus. Also, all the events related to sports are conducted at the university only.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The hostel facility and the mess provided by Symbiosis is just amazing. I don’t think any other institute would provide such great amenities in such low prices. There’s a variety served in the mess. The breakfast and snacks are just delicious. Usually, people become lean when they come to the hostel because they say that the food provided isn’t that healthy or good but coming to Symbiosis I’ve just gained weight and the food rarely disappointed me. Also, the mess staff and the hostel staff is really caring and one feels like home.

Alumni/Alumna

There’s no such alumni team for SIHS. For the alumni meets the final year students of the respective programmes are told to call and invite the alumni’s. They’re no such connectivity that’s maintained by the college with the passed out students as a lot of numbers that we get are no more working (not updated).

Exam Structure

The exams are conducted by SIU six times during the course that is two times in each semester. It’s a pen paper examination and the results come online on the official website. The question paper is set by the faculty members itself but the examination copies go for correction at SIU.

Admission

Well, I had taken SET and then got a call from the institite. Later I visited Pune for the PI-WAT and I was asked a few general questions after which I was told that I can pay the fees. At that very moment I was extremely happy as I thought that I cleared the process on by ability but later I felt depressed by seeing that in a batch of 95 students, there were hardly 13-14 students who had written SET, rest of them had just joined the institute directly by just walking in with their documents and that was the moment I felt cheated by the institute. Also, their official website shows that the intake of students is just 90 but they stuff in all the eligible candidates who come for admissions.

Faculty

1.5

The faculties are average. They’re mostly MSc. students of the same college. When I was studying, Respiratory therapy had no faculty at all and the college didn’t ever bother to get one. For other specializations, there was one faculty each and that’s all about it. During audits there used to be a hell lot of chaos in the institutes as the faculty members were never up to date with their work. Also, for a clinical lab, our deputy director who’s a Ph.D. was assigned to take some lectures but she didn’t even take a single class and always used to send some or the other MSc student to take care of those hours which were assigned to her.

Strong academic legacy with expereinced faculties and balanced content- preparing you for future studies and entrance exams and olympiads. very much strict, i would say not needed. somehwere you may experience baised behaviour; but when you are focused on gaining knowledge then these things dont matter as its only a matter of three years. Relevance of course is there but for applying for further studies not for that much for job prospects, if you want atleast a decent salary job.

I have rarely seen companies coming to our college for placement purposes for our course but I have seen companies coming for BCOM and BCA. I don't know about my course as I am currently in my second year. The percentage of students getting placements are veryess as my friend from third year said that out of 150 students only 10 students got placed this year which is very less compared to other colleges. My plans after getting the degree is if I got a job in any of the it company I will do it for experience and side by side I am planning to pursue my education in MSC CS
