Course Curriculum Overview
The first year will comprise of general subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Electronics, etc. which will be common to all students regardless of their branch. The second year will comprise of subjects strictly relevant to your course, the third year will comprise less studying and more practical application and the fourth year will only have internships and program elective subjects. As for the examinations, there are two of them in the semester, mid-term which is conducted in the mid of the semester which is evaluated for 30 marks, and end term which is evaluated for 50 marks. The total evaluation is for 100 marks, of which 80 marks is towards written exams and 20 for internal quizzes and assignments.
Internships Opportunities
I haven't had any internship opportunities yet as I am at the end of my first year but as far as I have heard from my seniors the placement department has provided an internship opportunity of 3 months to every student as well asked these companies to offer PPO's to well-performing students.
Placement Experience
The placements in Manipal are released every year on their website, on an average between 8-12LPA and many reputable companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Texas Instruments, Google, etc. hire from here. The highest package was around 64.8LPA. Almost 89% of the students were placed last year.
Fees and Financial Aid
The course in overall will cost you around 15-18 Lakhs just for tuition fees, the hostel will set you back anywhere in between 90k-2.03L per year. Scholarships are available to students who have a cgpa above 8.5 but there you also need to be under a certain income bracket.
Campus Life
There are multiple events that happen within the campus throughout the year, there is the revels event which occurs in the month of March which is the annual fest of Manipal. There are multiple student clubs and projects that delve into many areas like robotics, coding, cybersecurity, arts, music, dance, etc. and to promote these student projects, MIT has allocated certain credits with them as optional subjects.
Hostel Facilities
Almost all the hostels have a water cooler in every floor and a night canteen which is open uptil 1AM. There are many hostel options to both male and female. There are messing facilities provided to everyone which serve 4 meals, breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner. The quality of the food is sub-par most of the days.
Admission
The application form for the Manipal Entrance Test can be found on their website. The examination is conducted twice a year mostly in the month of April and May. The duration of the exam is of 2 hours and it consists of 4 sections English, Maths, Physics, and Chemistry. Each correct answer awards you 4 marks and each incorrect answer deducts 1 mark and your total score will be displayed at the of the examination. You will not be allowed to go back to your previous question. The rankings of the examination will be released about a month after the examination and will be delivered to the registered email. The cutoffs for the courses can be viewed in the Manipal website. There is no reservation as such in Manipal but there is the NRI quota which is essentially the management seat.
