My college experience

The College excels in providing a peaceful learning atmosphere where there is no brouhaha of the outside world and the teachers are superb. But , unfortunately, being a boys-only college, the girls can not have the excellent opportunities provided here. As an autonomous college, they should exercise their freedom more to the students' needs. The disciplinarian rigidity is extreme help,but it fires back sometimes. Otherwise, the college is a complete package for those who wants to really build their career and at the same time live a enjoyable hostel life. It is an experience indelible. Students are lucky and proud.

In comparison to other colleges, this one being an Autonomous College, it holds its own right to prescribe a curriculum; therefore,it has a far superior syllabi set by renowned academicians. Every department has different set of board of studies group to set the curriculum.

No, there are no availability of internships. In general, students are encouraged to engage in activities that could help build their careers.

This is a college par excellence in maintaining its reputation in terms of buiding a students career. The job placement rates are very high. The science and the arts faculties and every department in it held separate guidance programme for the preparation of job opportunities in different sector. IT, MNC , Teaching all the sectors thrive tremendously.

Each and every department organizes their own cultural and academic feat every year. Be it quiz or paper presentation, or poster making, or publication of magazine, all students engage in sheer enthusiasm. Other than these there is a grand festival organized by the college authority named 'Utthishtata' which is the cultural and festive epitome of the college year. Financial assistance in the form of scholarships is given to poor and meritorious students. Two covetable awards and some scholarships have been instituted in the hallowed name of Swami Lokeswaranandaji Maharaj - the founder of this great institutional complex.Dr. P.C.Rakshit Award has been instituted to perpetuate the memory of Prof. Pratul Chandra Rakshit - a legendary figure. other than these students can apply for central and state scholarships via the college.

Football, cricket, volleyball, basketball, hockey etc. are played in different seasons of the year. The vast playing fields and the stadium offer them ample space. The competitive matches are all held in the Ashrama Stadium. Our college also hosts various University Championships at this venue. Indoor games such as table tennis and carom are very popular. A state-of-the-art Swimming Pool has been constructed recently near the hostels where the students take regular swimming exercise.recently, A twelve station Multigym was installed at the Brahmananda Bhavana kitchen complex for the benefit of the boys.The day's work in the hostels begins with prayer in the shrines. This is repeated in the evening. The prayer includes devotional songs, readings from the scriptures, followed by Contemplation and Meditation for some time. Though each student has the freedom to follow his own faith, attendance is compulsory at these prayer sessions. this is a boys only college.

There are at present three hostels under the supervision of the college. These are called Students' Homes because attempts are made to create a homely atmosphere there. Although fellow-feeling, goodwill and understanding form the basis of life at such homes, strict discipline is maintained simultaneously. Students admitted to the college are accommodated in any one of the homes at the discretion of the authorities. This being an entirely residential institution, the students' homes are an integral part of the college and the rules, regulations etc. obtaining there are binding on all students of the college.The college being fully residential, students have to stay at hostels where the ideal of meaningful corporate life based on love, fellow-feeling and understanding prevails. At these hostels, monks play a crucial role in maintaining a bracing atmosphere of harmony and seeing to it that students under their charge are bound and welded into togetherness by a love that transcends all barriers of caste and creed. Food: The food is simple and nutritious; both vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals and tiffin are provided.

It is the ex-students' body dedicated to serving the people in need. The forum works incessantly to facilitate close interaction among its members as well as to stay by them when they need help. It extends regular financial assistance to the needy bona-fide as well as the ex-students along with other needy students of the locality.The Mahavidyalaya Praktani organizes biennial Re-Union which falls on December 25 of every odd year like 2001, 2003 and so on. All the ex-students are heartily welcome to attend this program every alternate year.

There is semester system for the evaluation of the students. Before the final semester a mid-semester is taken which is somewhat similar to internal assessment. Unlike 3 year or 2 year system the presence of semester system breaks down the whole syllabus into shorter segments so that students remain stress free.

Aspirants have to sit for Entrance Examination held by the respective departments of the College. Finally, a merit list will be published in the College website. Ranked aspirants would be called for interview and will be admitted for the course. This procedure applies to all the Undergraduate courses. In the post graduate course there is no waightage of the board test marks.

Every single faculty member is chosen by a rigorous selection procedure. There is no compromisation in terms of the academic qualifications and ability of the faculty members. Students are free and encouraged to establish academic communication even outside the classrooms.
