Course Curriculum Overview

3

2019 batch onward curriculum has changed and from 2022 batch this curriculum has got revised again. So basically there will be 4 academic years and an internship period of one yeat duration. During the academic years it will train us more towards knowing the theory aspect of mbbs. Each year students will be studying and writing theory and practical exams for new subjects. Without passing exams of an academic year you are not allowed to write exams for next year. Also the amount of stress and self conflicting moments are too common for a medical student. Suggesting new changes in the middle of course like NEXT is real a stress booster for students. Also making students to study 6 main subjects of mbbs during last one year must be changed. There will be 2 internal exams and 1 model exam and based on internal marks from these 3 exams qualification to write University exam will be assessed. University exams will happen after each academic year.

Internships Opportunities

3

After passing final year exams all students have to do compulsory internship in the corresponding college for 1 year. During the internship period students will be allotted to various departments for varying periods. It is the time during which maximum clinical exposures will be obtained

Fees and Financial Aid

Tution fee for govt colleges will be around 30k per year. Tution fee for private colleges varies according to college. For each batch fixed fee structure will be there and this fee structure goes on increasing from one batch to another. Scholarship will be there for sc st category students. Oec and bpl students may also get scholarship. Scholarship will exempt them from paying tution fee . Total fee will be around 6 lakhs/ year for a student getting in merit seat. Again it varied from college to college. Candidates are bound to pay fixed fee structure

Campus Life

2

Mbbs being one of the toughest course doesn't provide you too much happy life. Life of a medical student is a mixture of varied emotions. All the major festivals will be celebrated in every colleges. After exam days are the days for outing and hangouts. Most medical colleges have a student friendly library where almost all books will be available. Classrooms will be large one enough to accommodate 150 students. There will be intercollege fests , competitions Every colleges whether govt or private will be having students union and these union leaders are in charge of conducting all programs in a college. Kuhs interzone fests are conducted annually.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel facilities are too good. Maximum of 3 persons are accommodated in one room along with attached bathroom, cupboard ,table, bed and 2 fans. Food quality is also good but i personally feel it's worth enough for the money paid . All students are expected to stay in hostel. Students staying outdoors are too rare as hostel is too close to the hospital and it's safe to walk through campus even in late night. During admission process itself hostel rooms will be allotted. Single room facilities are also available in hostels. First years will be having seperate accommodation from others. Menu comprise of both veg and non veg with south Indian dishes

Admission

Neet ug is the mandatory exam for admission for any mbbs course in India After publishment of neet ug results almost 1 week later a seperate rank list for candidates of kerala will get published on cee kerala site. Allotment will be done to various medical Colleges based on our priority and marks There will be 4 allotments and last one is spot allotment. Candidates have to take temporary admission in medical College if they want to participate in next allotment procedure. Candidates have to stay updated especially regarding allotment dates and have to make sure they are arranging colleges based on their required priority In private colleges seats will be reserved for NRI quota,sc ,st category. It is generally advisable to visit official site of concerned colleges before taking admission through allotment to know about all certificates and files to be submitted during admission time Once allotment is over you will have to study in the college allotted.

Even though a bit tight and rushy, this is in fact the best curriculum provided and followed by all medical colleges in kerala. The frequency of exam is high and difficulty level is as same as that of KUHS. This provides relevant experience for the students to weite the university exams

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is a bit tough rather than other courses (professional courses) MBBS is a 4 year course with 1 year compulsory internship dealing with a total of 13-4 subject over the 4 years The curriculum prepares us for the real world experiecne but more often the clinical subjects aim in patuent student interaction that overall help in the achievemnt of professionalism The frequency if exams are very high as there needs to be regular revision of subjects in order to prepare for the finals and perfect in all clinical theory and oractical aspects

Kerala University of Health Sciences - [KUHS], Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)
Reviewed on Nov 30, 2024(Enrolled 2021)

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is of high relevance as it ensures that the student learns everything he need to learn in an mbbs life to become a good doctor. The curriculum we are now following is decided by the National Medical Council (NMC) of India and is CBME curriculum. The curriculum include many Self directed learning methods and small group discussions etc which makes the learning interesting and easy. The curriculum definitely prepares the students to become a good doctor in future. Some minute improvements are still required like no need of these many SGDs for community medicine and forensic. It'll be better to include more field activities in community medicine . The frequency and timing of exams are sometimes a burden for the students as the exams are so close and they are not getting enough time to improve themselves which may affect their confidence. Sometimes the exams are scheduled in between some meets conducted by university which makes it difficult for the students to participate.
