What Students Say
Likes
- Environment provided. The setting of the college is such that the students are away from the pollution and ruckus of the city.
- Opportunity to upgrade branch in the first year. The students from lower branches can move to higher ones on the basis of their academic record.
- Activities and festivals. There is something or the other always happening for the students organised by the various clubs.
Dislikes
- The frequency of classes. The day becomes quite tiring for students on a daily basis.
- Strict faculty. Some leniency can be shown by teachers.
Course Curriculum Overview
AI and ML has seen an immense boost during the covid phase. The curriculum involves all the subjects from computer science field. The curriculum ensures that they prepare the student thoroughly in the course period. It has a subtle balance of real world problems as well as theoretical knowledge. The only improvement that may be incorporated is in the teaching methods. New forms of teaching must be adopted to indulge the students in the learning process. Most of the students resort to learning online and not from the teachers and the institute that they're paying so much for. The frequency of classes can be reduced to some extent as in our institute, classes begin from 8 am in the morning and last upto 5.20 pm. It becomes tiring for students to attend so many classes everyday for 5 days in a row.
Internships Opportunities
I haven't applied for any internship opportunities from the college as of yet. But as I have heard from the seniors, the internship opportunities are quite satisfactory. I hope I get the same or even better opportunities in the future.
Placement Experience
Placements are quite promising as of now. All the necessary details regarding the placements are available on the college website www.bitmesra.ac.in . I am currently a student of first year so i do not have much idea about placements other than the records on the website.
Fees and Financial Aid
Tuition fees is increased by 2000 every year. The complete cost of eduction including the hostel fees is about 18 lakhs. There are scholarships for the minorities based on academics. The institute also provides with several other scholarship programs. There are different scholarships provided by alumni and trustees of the institute. I have not undertaken any college employment yet as I'm a student of 1st year.
Campus Life
There is one annual festival held during march every year, BITOTSAV. Other than this, there are several other festivals taking place in the campus organised by the various clubs respectively. Students can join various clubs based on their interest. Some of the popular clubs are= LEO, PSOC, UNESQUO, ECESOC,DHWANI, etc. The library is a very significant aspect of the institute. It offers a wide range of books and material to the students, and also provides them a safe and peaceful space for them to study. The classrooms are well furnished and air conditioned keeping in mind the comfort of the students. They are also supervised with cctv cameras. Sports and extracurricular activities are also well taken care of in the campus.
Hostel Facilities
The room is quite small to accomodate two people. Only one table is provided per room. Meal quality depends on the hostel you're staying in. I currently stay in Hostel 8. The quality of the food is not very promising but good enough to continue with. The hygiene can be taken care of. The hostel charges are not at all affordable considering the size of rooms and lifestyle offered in exchange. There are not enough flats or PGs around the college for students to rent in.
Admission
The admission to the institute is provided on the basis of the score obtained in jee mains. In 2023, the all india cutoff for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning was 13416 to 18133 during josaa counselling in the open category. The home state cutoff for the same branch was 25843 to 28751. The application involves the JEE Mains exam which takes place twice every year. Millions of students from all over the country apply for the exams from which some thousands are eligible to apply for admissions in NITs and GFTIs. The duration of the exam is 3 hours in which the students are required to solve 25 questions from each- physics, chemistry and mathematics. The difficulty level is standard. The students must have adequate knowledge in major engineering basics.
