Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum spreads over 4.5 years + 1 year of compulsory internship. It includes a total of 19 subjects, these subjects prepare you well for handling patients in real life. AIIMS being an Institute of National Importance, has curated the curriculum very well with lots of focus on practical clinical knowledge. 4.5 years is divided into total 9 semesters and 4 Professional exams. In each exam you have to score more than 50% in each subject to pass. The course academics is very rigid and thorough, so you have to study hard really to come out as a skilled doctor.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure for AIIMS Kalyani is perhaps the least of all other medical colleges in India. Total fee is only Rs. 5867 for whole 5.5 years. You get hostels without any extra charge other than this. AIIMS itself does not provide any scholarship opportunities, but you can avail various public and private scholarships by your own merit and based on family financial condition.
Campus Life
The infrastructure is top-notch with state of the art facilities provided in every department. The whole college building, hospital buildings are centrally air-conditioned. There is a luxurious auditorium in the campus, 3 canteens, 1 student mess, gym , open gym, badminton court, various provisions for indoor games, basketball court, volleyball court, cricket & football ground. There is an intra-college Annual Day held every year where all students are divided into 4 houses and various literary, cultural, sports competitions are held. Apart from this, an annual inter college fest named "Elyssia" is organised in April, every year where students from all parts of India physically come to the campus and participate in this fest. Total footfall lies in between 2500-3500. Moreover, all the year round various events like Christmas, new year, Rabindra Jayanti, Republic Day, Independence Day, Saraswati Pujo, Ganesh Chaturthi, Eid are celebrated whole- heartedly.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel accommodation is mandatory for all students. For 1st and 2nd year, double- occupancy rooms are provided while single room with attached washrooms are provided for 3rd,4th year. Each students is provided with bed, mattress, wardrobe, side table, wall wardrobe, dustbin. Cleaning of hostel and washroom is done every day. There is a student mess facility whose monthly membership fee is 4300 rupees. Meals are provided 4 times a day. The food quality is better than average.
Admission
One has to apply for NEET Exam to get into any medical college in India. Qualifying exam for NEET- candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English as a core subject, with more than 50% aggregate for UR, 40% for reserved category. Minimum age- 17 years No limit on upper age and number of attempts. The NEET Exam is held once every year.
