Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I chose the the course of Electronis and Instrumentation because of the relevance of its course plan in today's technologically advancing world. This course like all other engineering courses, develops the "problem solving" mindset in students, thereby preparing us for real world problems, and also making us capable to choose whichever field in the future. The courses should adopt a more "hands on" teaching method and examinations but test the student's technical knowledge rather than the ability to cram information. The exams are evenly spaced out, thereby allowing students to prepare well and also giving us time to focus on other interests.

Internships Opportunities

4

Many international and domestic internship opportunities are available in my college. Chiefly, the internship and entrepreneurship clubs offer multiple similar oppurtunities. Microsoft, Amazon, Flipkart, Phillips, L&T, Tata are among the companies that have offered internships in MIT with stipend. IAESTE is a technical club which offers access to international internships and exchange programmes in over 20 countries.

Placement Experience

3.5

Companies visit the campus from August-December in the seventh semester during the placement drive. Students undergo a test with multiple rounds to earn the internship/ placement. Over 150 companies visit the campus including Microsoft, Amazon and Oracle. In 2023 the highest package was 54.57L and the average was 12.59L. Last year 92.90% of students were placed. A year on year growth has been seen in the campus placements. After getting the degree I plan to take up a job offered during placements and then pursue a masters degree in the future.

Fees and Financial Aid

Due to inflation the fees at MIT have been increasing for the last 10 years. The tuition fees for my particular course came to about 3.3L. Other fees include hostel which came to about 1L and mess facilities which was 42K for the year. Other miscellaneous charges came to around 10K. A number of scholarships are offered by different agencies, one including the "Women Engineers" scholarship by Google. The university does not provide campus employment opportunities for first year students. Internships are provided to students on merit basis during the third year.

Campus Life

3.5

The technical fest "Tech-tattva" is hosted during the months of October, before the half sem examination of the odd semester. "Revels" the cultural fest is held in the beginning of the year. The university's cultural fest is called "Utsav" and is organised at a grand scale. MIT had two libraries, both open till late hours and holding all the necessary course material. The recorded lectures are uploaded on Impartus, an online video platform and the course content is provided on the LMS app. The sporting facilities are top notch including Marena, a centrally cooled sports complex that is one of the best equipped ones in the country. Other facilities include the in campus gym, synthetic basketball court, etc. the extra curricular activities are endless which are conducted by the respective clubs. In 2007, the institute came up with the idea of student projects to provide infrastructure to build technical projects to compete in national and international events.

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostels include a range of rooms such as single/ double and triple occupancy with ac/ non ac or attached or non attached bathrooms. The hostels provide 24*7 Internet and water and electrify supply. The caretakers are present at all times and housekeeping can be called when necessary. The campus has various messes spaced around the hostel blocks, thus students can choose their mess according to convenience. There are three catering services that provide food for 4 meals a day. Hostel regeneration is done before the beginning of the academic year. The fees Range from 95000 to 1.5L, therefore students can choose their preferred type of room according to affordability. Second year onwards students are allowed to stay off campus. Accommodations include pgs, apartments in Manipal and Udupi.

Admission

The period after the 12th board exams was a stressful time, when most students undergo the admission process to university. The eligibility for most courses has two criterias, the first being performance in the respective competitive exam, and the second being the individual's performance in his or her board exam. The details regarding application form, application fees and application dates are all clearly mentioned on the college websites and one doesn't face much problem there. However the only site that gave somewhat of a problem was the MHT-CET portal, where we faced with uncertainty regarding the dates of the results, etc. The various exams were spaced out enough, giving us time to prepare, however the tricky part was switching to different type of problems as different exams have different patterns. What I do not like about the process is that the examination catered to different courses, therefore failing to test an individual's aptitude for the particular field.

Placement is good, every student who tries to get placement will surely be placed in campus placements, but off campus would be difficult as this cllg is a tier-3 cllg, so many companies reject in resume shortlisting. Maximum every CSE student will get placed but max of them would get placed at an offer of 3.5 or 4.5lpa

I would say academic wise. There is nothing much happening right now in first year, but then there are many events like hackathons happening where and we can participate and learn a lot even our first year and we have English film and Japanese film, which is basically a whole language club and there are a lot of activities happening such as debate and all, which is obviously helping us gain a lot of public speaking skills and confidence.
