Remarks

Asutosh college is one of the greatest colleges and its rank in all over India and West bengal shows it . There are many rumours , but it up to someone who will take it or not . You have to read in Asutosh , unless you cant experience the colours .

Entrance Preview

Asutosh college is one the biggest name in the education circle , the faculty is very good , more than 28 UG courses are available , comparative exam coaching classes also given , strong students wing , little bit of placements , student friendly atmosphere and great infrastructure.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I choose Botany as my honours subject . It is a little tougher than other bio sc subjects because of vast syllabus and low scoring rate but the opportunities are higher. The teachers are very good and extremely qualified and helpful . The instrument are good and in third year they gave knowledge about research and other options .

Internships Opportunities

No , as other Govt colleges , there is no internship was given . Only dept of BBA honours provide internships .

Placement Experience

2

Placement cell is weak as other govt colleges but compared to other govt colleges , it is much better . Companies like ICICI Prudential , Sail , TCS and many other companies come to our college for direct jobs . They took seminar , GD , PI and then select the desirable candidates .

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is low and all courses is within 6-9k for a year . Only the self financed courses are costly which is 20k-30k per year . But for the self finace course installments are available . You can find the detailed fee structure in the Asutosh college website .

Fees and Financial Aid

Every government scholarship is available in the college . Any eligible student can get a scholarship from college . However college do not give any scholarship of its own , but fee concession and free studentship available for needy students .

Campus Life

4.5

Gender ratio -Girls ratio is slightly higher than boys (55:45) . Extracurricular - Beside study , there is NCC/NSS , Gymnasium , open libraries and other things Labs- Labs are in very good condition and filled with every possible instrument that you need Sports - College have a Football , Cricket , kho kho team which participate and won many competitions. Competitions- College sent representatives to other colleges to compete. The competitions organised under the events I described before .

Hostel Facilities

3.5

There are no colllege hostels are in Main campus . All the college hostels are in 2nd campus of the college . But as there are so many meses , room rent for students , home stays , paying guests available , the absence of hostel is not effect the students .

Alumni/Alumna

College has a strong alumni network . Even they have a group , where our principal is the president . The group discusses about the necessities for the college . Seniors are very helpful and stand as a pathfinder for their juniors . Even they gave their old books for free .

Admission

I filled a form in dept. Botany of this college . The form is available at college websites after west bengal results and the window was opened for a week . After a week a provisional merit list published including names of all applicants and after 2days of pulishing provisional merit list , 1st merit list published according to capacity of intake . I got admission in 1st merit list . I went to college at mentioned dates and went to dept for 1st verification , the professors room for second verification , then to the bank to pay the payment , then to college library to take roll no and fees book . That was and is the process. Next list published after the admission of 1st merit list . The further lists include conselling of students according to the merit.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty is highly qualified and all holds the PhD degrees . They are very helpful , even if we call at 2 AM for anything related to subject , they answered and no signs of irritation was there . They know the names of every students , their strong and weak points and treat them as the requirement . Every class was taken very seriously and they broke the mith that in college there are hardly any classes are conducted .

Course Curriculum Overview:

I've always found economics to be really interesting and thats why I choose to persue it. I wanted to dive deep into the actual concepts and workings of the economy and understand how the world works from an economist's point of view. Sadly the curriculam doesnt bridge the gap between theory and real life. It focuses heavily on textbook and not how the world works.

The Physical Chemistry faculties are the best I got, that influenced me to carry forward my research carrier in Physical Chemistry. The curriculum for the Physical and Inorganic chemistry are upto the mark and I felt improvement in teaching style and curriculum is required for Organic Chemistry part. The difficulty of Internal examination can be improved a bit.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would say the course is good but you have to opt for masters and PhD to get a good placement. After bsc there's not any placement. The curriculum was basically practical and theoretical based. But I think it should be more practical so that we can get a job after doing bsc. The teaching method was good I didn't have any problem with that. As it was under Calcutta University so the exam questions were too difficult, sometimes it came out of our syllabus , i think they should change this a little bit .

Course Curriculum Overview:

The syllabus for BSc. Microbiology Hons. was in line with my interests. Few topics like virology, bacteriology, and diversity of the microbial workd are what drew my attention to pick this course. Although there are some portions which one would consider "boring", but I believe every subject has its interesting as well as boring portions. It's seems fair to judge a subject by seeing if the "boring" portions outweigh the "interesting" parts or not.

Course Curriculum Overview:

In terms of relevance and comprehensiveness of the course curriculum, my rating is solid 4.1 out of 5. Because it offers a variety of courses like compulsory english, environmental science, constitution values of India, Inter Disciplinary Courses where one can opt for a variety of subjects which change along with the course proceeds or semester changes. Not only that two major papers and one minor paper are present throughout the semester. As a student we should be well aware of our country and its law as well as how we can keep our environment healthy followed by sustainable development.
