Course Curriculum Overview

5

Updating outdated syllabus and provide critical problem solving abilities based questions could be of great help. Calcutta University provides 3 hours for 3 questions which is of 15 marks each and I think it's quiet justified. Asutosh Mookherjee college provides internships on 2nd, 4th, 6th and final year and hands on hands training and workshops which is very useful in today's world. The University also provides research opportunities for students with or above 8 CGPA and so does Asutosh Mookherjee college. From the very childhood, I am fascinated to the world of literature, read books and write letters which led me pursue English hons as my Major.

Internships Opportunities

3

I've very less knowledge about the intership programme as I'm a freshman first semester and interships start form 2nd sem. But yes, as per I heard it from our seniors, last time the intership was held at Jadavpur University and vivas on it were also asked.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

I paid ?7060 for first year. No matter whatever subject combined you take up, the fees for BA eng hons remains the same i.e ?7060. Admission fees in total ?7060(this includes first year fees too) Total course fees (8 semesters):- ?28,240-/- No lab fees in BA English hons. There's nothing like compulsory charges or development fees as it's a fully govt aided college. Fees of my batchmates is as same as me (?7060) Although Asutosh College does not offer its own scholarships, students can avail all other various government scholarship schemes as it is a fully government-aided institution. Hostel charges:- Boys' Hostel:- ?10,500/per annum Girls' Hostel:- ?10,500/per annum

Campus Life

4

Recently fresher's and farewell was held which was named "adieu blash" and "Magnum Opus" respectively in the month of September. Also a band named 'Horses' came to our college. Asutosh Mookherjee college library offers diversity collection of books. Each and even academic book and Calcutta university related books you can find there and also borrow it after getting your library card done. Sports is an important extra curricular at Asutosh Mookherjee college. Besides strong cricket, football and basketball teams, there's also cultural clubs, literature clubs and Students union.

Admission

Besides getting selection in St Xavier's college and MUC college in Burdwan. I also got selected for Lady Braboune, South Calcutta girls college and many other. I didn't opt for any of there because maximum of my criteria were fulfilled in Asutosh Mookherjee college. I didn't make it to Xavier's College Kolkata due to some financial problem and in Jadavpur University, I couldn't clear the admission test. The admission procedure in our college is merit based (based on class 12th or equivalent examination). The merit marks is calculated with 50% of your best of 5 subjects aggregate and 50% of your hons marks.

Faculty

5

The faculty to student ratio is 5:144 The faculty members are very approachable between 10 AM to 5 PM. The faculty is warm, welcoming and also eager to help students. Faculties of English, geography and microbiology are the best at Asutosh Mookherjee college. I personally like Paromita Choudary ma'am and Asis Sahu sir (HoD) from our dept. There's no perticular teacher I didn't like at Asutosh Mookherjee college. There are 8 semesters for 5 years undergraduate degree. All exams are conducted externally. Approximately 2% of students at Asutosh Mookherjee college fail to clear the university examinations. The curriculum is also highly relevant to the industry needs. Students gain practical knowledge and skills.

Being a Jesuit Christian minority institution in Balai Gaach, Rajganj, North Bengal St. Xavier's is like a server to the host of the St Xavier's family. Its pristine green campus heaves in a space of fresh air and ambience to the students. Alongside, the interactive modern classrooms, a dedicated library and canteen hosts an instrumental role in the academic as well as non-academic curriculum for enhancing the quality of higher education that the college roots for. The beneficent professors and staff members include distinctive advantages for the aspirants and might even ensure a safe journey through the course of honours as well as general courses through an elongated period of time. The widespread infrastructure of the college makes it a gem for students like us of North Bengal to avail quality college exposure homebound.

In my eyes I never found any single negative point of my college. Maybe I loved my college too much but in order to support my statement, if the attendance sheet of my college gets published in a public domain I can probably say that in my city, my college will certainly have the maximum number of students attending class compared to any other private colleges.
