What Students Say

Likes

Freedom within the campus and outside the campus and availability of playing games.
The nature and view , sunsets and clouds often make CUTN into a nice play to study and relax.

Dislikes

Food quality is considerable inside campus mess.
Swiggy and zomato are restricted inside the campus premises , however we can collect food from main gate , outside food is not much promoted by the admins.

Course Curriculum Overview

I have chosen integrated msc in physics as physics is an evergreen subject and there is many open scopes for phd. The syllabus in the department is accepted across the country at central and state government even tho the degree is not accepted by tamilnadu state govt.

Internships Opportunities

In the department of physics , lots of faculties offer internships upon prior request. Simulation centre for nanoscale materials , Softmatter physics labortary and non linear dynamics are some of the research labortary in which most students are enrolled.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fee is around 20k per semester which includes tution fees , library , transport and student aminities. Mess is available at a current rate of Rs 110 per day with considerable quality of food. Various sports and courts available for badminton , Basketball , cricket , football and even gym. Central sector scholarship is open for single girlchild as well as obc and sc st. No scholerships are given for general candidates.

Campus Life

-Campus has an annual cultural fest - AARAMBH conducted by the student counsil amd funded by the university -festivals like pongal , onam , deepavali , holi can be celebrated with prior permissions from the admin and fund is raised among from students and foreign sponsers. -festivals like farewell , freshers , science day etc can also be celebrated within department with approval from head. -the campus is around 500 acres with lots of nature and freedom , canteens for tea and snacks are also within the campus. -campus have a well organised library.

Hostel Facilities

-3 hostels for men in ug -2 are new and one is old -rooms are shared among 2 students and bathrooms are situated at every corner. -rooms are equipped with light and fan well lit and ventilated and heavy electrical appliances are not allowed. -hostel attendance are often recorded. -registration is pretty fast as we have just to carry documents like valid govt id , fee receipt and id card.

Hostel Fee: INR 2000 per year

Admission

Admission thru CUET , Requiremnets - plus 2 pass Applications thru samarath portal , First alloted will be same for physics chemistry and mathematics department for two years and after that we are given option to change department provided we can get approval from the head as well as the department office.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Our course covers the basic of the subjects and we have not gained advanced knowledge. Although well prepared, it was difficult to attend the entrance exam in other institution. Practicals are less than theory. So the course should give more deep knowledge about the subjects and also practical knowledge.

Placement Experience:

Placements are quite good enough with average package of 2-2.5 lac per annum. I was more interested into further masters study so didn't borther much about participating in college placements. but one of my college friend was in HSS department got into HR of 11 lac package per annum.

A Hidden Story of Central University of Tamilnadu

I applied for the other colleges like Banaras Hindu University and Allahabad University and many other colleges and that colleges are quite old and they have some reputation and name of their academic background and their curriculum. I didn't get admission their because of my low marks as i am from general category and for general category the cutoff is very high and so that i had given the CUET exam that is common University Entrance Exam and that therough i got my college Central University of Tamilnadu. I didn't get any rejection from any other college i choosen this college. During my admission, the exam was CUCET. I had a score of 212. I got admission in the first allotment itself. I guess the cut-off was around 150 for general category students that year.
