What Students Say

Likes

Sports facilities are awesome you can play any game even you dont know how to play
Fest are the best part of college life and here fest budgets are very high
Clubs they frequently organize events such as movie screening, fos , etc to entertain the fellow students

Dislikes

Mess food is very oily and chapatis are not cooked properly and no facility of regional food
The grading system and academic difficulty is very high
Hostel rooms are so bad and they forcefully doublet the room which are for singles

Iits are only meant for placement they dont care about knowldege or children and prof here doesnt care whether you are studying or degrading they just come to class take the class and doesnt care whether students understood what they taught

Tata, jaguar and hindustan liver are core companies which give intern in mechanical branch And you should be a good student and should have developed good skills then only you will get intern else getting on campus is very hard

From 7th sem There are a lot of companies here for example google, quant , tata , jaguar , hindustan liver and no of offer will be around 700 Highest package goes around 1.5 cr domestic and average is different for all branches combined average will be 18lpa 80% people gets placed

Fees is around 100000 for institute 25000 hostel 15000 mess and extra Completes cost for degree will be around 1200000 And there are many scholarships program but i am not enrolled in any There is no hike in fees And if you are from any reservaed category there are some advantages

Tech fest annual - cognizance Cult fest - thomso which north india's largest tech fest You can find any book in library and there is also e library which has almost all books required for engineering and extras Classroom have centralised ac and heaters and projectors Sports facilities are top notch There are many clubs and social groups run by students

Hostel Facilities

Hostel rooms are not so good we just get one bed and cupboard and commom bathroom and toilet for whole floor and one switch board only Mess are kind of nice if we compare with other colleges and each week's menu get uploaded on group Biometric registeration is there

Jee mains and advanced is the entrance exams for iits You will find application and everything josaa after you qualify exam Jee is most difficult engineering entrance exam Admission process should reduce reservation

UPES is modern day university!

Placement Experience:

Since CSW students as in UPES School of Computer Science students are 1200+, I think 60 percent students do get placements. Now the criteria is that students get a strong bandwith in placements that it is not at all easy to become a part of placements as students carrying back in 3rd year are not allowed to appear for any job interview at the university.

Placement Experience:

UPES students have to be ready in the last year as both the semester placements activities keeps on having its toll. Also, a student qualified for a placement can only appear for the interview on the companies that are offering a 2x paycheck as otherwise once the placements are done means done at UPES.

UPES Dehradun has best infrastructure!

Placement Experience:

UPES has seen placements in range of 50 lakhs and more and that because of the stupendous tie-ups that our placement cell has seen. Our CSE entries batch size is of 1200 and out of which 600 were placed with an average salary of 18 lakhs and now one can debate if any other college in Uttarakhand apart from IIT Roorkee provide such placements.

Placement Experience:

McKinsey, Johnson & Johnson, Deloitte, Oracle and many others as there were indeed 20 odd companies this year which took CAE students and before the university could invite more companies, most students were already placed.

The placement is also good here as companies come here every year. The highest package here is 1.03 cr which happened in 2013 or so.Almost 60 to 70 percent students get placed here. As of my plans I want to get a package of around 40 to 50 lakhs per annum

IIT Roorkee - The complete story

Placement Experience:

Being an IIT, the campus placements are pretty good. Over 90% of the batch gets placed, with a median of 20LPA. All major tech, financial and management companies come for placements. Highest package generally goes up to 2 crores each year, though this is an international offer. The highest domestic package is around 80LPA. These offers are generally for the quant offered by HFTs (High frequency trading), which refers to quantitative analysis in stock trading. The placement season is in first sem of 4th year, and if you have a good resume with 8+ CGPA, you are all set to go. I plan on sitting for AI-ML placements.

The feeling of being in IIT Roorkee

I didnt applied for any other colleges other than some iits which were iit bombay, kanpur, roorkee, guwahati. Just these four and nothing because i got a decent rank in JEE Adv 2025. I took part in jossa councelling and got it . I was happy with any of seven old iits . In better way , i would be happy in going any top iit. Moreover i choose it because of it's weather and location. Rest all things are similar to all top iits. Nothing is less in iit roorkee. You have to give jee main then jee advanced. IIT Roorkee - The complete story

I had 4 main options in hand after JEE - BSc Physics in IISC Bangalore (I had cleared KVPY), Electrical engineering in IIT Indore, EPH in IIT Roorkee, and Computer Science in Nit Trichy. I did not choose IISC, as I wasnt sure whether I wanted my career to be in research. My coaching faculties advised me not to take an NIT when I was getting a top 7 IIT. It was a tough choice choosing between EE in IITI, and EPH in IITR. However, at the end, I choose Roorkee because of its legacy, better facilities, and a calmer environment.
