What Students Say
Likes
- I like the curriculum of engineering programs
- I like the clubs and student groups in campus
- I like the way they encourage students to attend technical events
Dislikes
- I dont like the Infrastructure of the hostels(non ac)
- I dont like the wifi provided in hostels as it sometimes gets really slow
- The computers provided in some labs are slow. Altough students are allowed to bring their own laptops. Few labs have good computer and few dont.
Course Curriculum Overview
I personally dont have any issue with the curriculum. My course is Bachelor of Engineering (Hoqu7ns.) Computer Science and Engineering (Cloud Computing specialization collaborated with IBM). In the first year every brand of Engineering has the same curriculum. For my course the subjects related to cloud computing are taught by IBM from 2nd year. Even the curriculum in the first year teaches us a lot if things that help us. We are taught python and c language in first sem. They made us develop a project using python in the first sem itself. In the second sem we have an independent project to make so that students can publish research papers and patents in the first year itself to make their portfolio better all funded by the university.
Internships Opportunities
Im still a first year student do in first year we dont have any kind of internships. But if the student has really learnt something and got any offer the university is ready to send the student for that internship.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tuition fee increases every year a little but theres no such constant increase. I think my overall cost of education including semester fee, hostel fee and all other charges would be 15 lakh ruppes. The most common scholarship students can get is through cucet (Chandigarh University common entrance test). An average student can easily get 30% scholarship theough cucet. But if the student has more than 90% in 12th he/she can avail 50% scholarship. In order to maintain scholarship student need to maintain 7.5 cgpa by the end of every year without backlogs. I did not join any campus employment opportunities.
Campus Life
My overall experience with campus life is really good. Technical events in the campus are held very frequently. Something will definitely be happening in the campus everyday. There are a lot of libraries in the campus with one central library which has almost every book student needs. For sports there is a dedicated place called sports complex where the students are encouraged to participate if they are interested. There are a lot of clubs and Technical student group like gdsc, gdg, terabyte club and many more to help students in all ways.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facility is pretty good. But personally i dint find the non AC rooms good. If a male student wants hostel inside the campus then he has three option 1. 4 seater non ac room 2. 5 seater non ac room 3. 5 seater ac room The five seater ac rooms are newly built so they are good. But 4 seater non ac and 5 seater non ac are old block and i dint find them good. The rest 1,2,3 seater rooms are far from the campus and student had bus facility from there to campus. Registration process for hostel is also easy.
Admission
I found the admission process easy and helpful. Eligibility of the course differs from course to course. But for Computer Science and Engineering the eligibility is minimum 60% in 12th from any board with maths, physics or chemistry as compulsory subjects. The application form can be found at cucet.cuchd.in and application fee is 1000 rupees. And if you want to confirm the admission you need to pay 5000 rupees which will later be adjusted in the semester fee. Exams in the university are conducted every month. There are two mid semester exams(mst) and one end semester exam(est). Syllabus of each sem is divided into three units. After the fist two units we have a mid sem exam. After the 3rd unit there is no mid term but the end sem exam. End semester exam has 50% weightage from unit 3 and 25% each from unit 1 and 2.the difficulty level of the exam differs for every exam. But i find the papers moderate. Personally i didnot face any issue while the im completing the process of my admission
