A PART OF MY LIFE( NITK)

the reason why i choose this course is i was intrested in the field of material science and want to know more about it and after reasearching about the carrear oppurtunities involved in the field i decided to choose this course. Talking about the qualification of the professors here it is a matter of no concern every prof is highly qualified and we get to study the books written by our own professors sometimes. for example there was one course called engineering chemistry and for that subject we have to refer a book written by our own professors NITYANAND SHETTY sir. the exams are timely (conducted after every month approximately) and are moderate to difficult so we have to study hard to pas the exams.

as ia am a first year student i dont have a clear idea about it but i heard many seniors got their ppo from the internships. Generally students are applicable for the internships from the end of 2nd year.

talking about placements NITK is famous among top IITs as well due to its good placement record. in the era of recession as well nitk had 75 % of placements from the cs department and whooping 72% of placements records from metullargy and material ssience and technology departments. from the end of 3rd semenster students are eligible for placements. various companies come to placements some the the renowned ones are tata, merecdes, amazon , goldmann sachs and many moree. the highest package from the ollage is 55 lakhs ( on campus) ans 1.12 cr( off campus) from a student from the mining branch. the percentage of students getting placed are around 80 which in my opinion is a very good percentage beacause in this data you are also counting some lower branches like mining avd civil. talking about my personal opinion i am inclined towards the non core secoter and will try to get a good job in the non core sector only. and after that i will just try to improve my skills

The fee structure of nitk is just like all the other nits, the tuition fees is 62500 per semester but there are several scholarships based on both merit and means, there is 100% tuition fee waiver for sc\st, pwd candidates and ews/obc students get 2/3 fee waiver if there family income is less than 5lakh and 100% tuition fee waiver if it's below 1lakh. Hostel fee in nitk is relatively minimal and the mess fee is 20k per semester, one can easily avails loans from any bank as it is one of the most premier institutes of the country, sbi and canara bank are present in the campus itself. Almost everyone is placed, you can give time to upskilling and other activities.

campus life in nitk is very chill, you may feel academics is a bit hard but after only a month you will the hang of it. there 2 major fests, incident and engineer, engineer being the techfest and inci, the biggest cultural fest of south india, beauty if the nitk beach is fully utilized. Apart from this there are several other events conducted by the several clubs nitk has, you will have plenty of fun here. The infrastructure is excellent just one preblem is there and that is in the cids classrooms ac are not present so in the hot season attending classes becomes a real challenge. the seniors are very helpful and there is no such thing like ragging here the seniors are really helpfull and suppiortive and are always ready to help you out not only in academic problems but in some cases they will help you out in personal matters as well. the lighthouse on the beach is such a vibe you can chill there after the hectic day of classes, assignments, homeworks.

as a first year student there are total 3 blocks alloted (boys) KARAVALI, ARAVALI , SAHYADRI. sahyadri being the oldest. the infrastructure of the hostels is very huge and good having 3 students in one room as sahyadri is the old one you may face some problems with the hostels but it does not fails to provide basic neccesities like drinking water washrooms. talkling about washroom they are cleaned after every 2 days and the hygines is good. elections are held for the MC( mess councellor) and HC ( hostel councellor) in the first year students itself and the probles are conveyed to the authorities via them. monthly meets are arranged to discuss the problem and to find a suitable solution to it. meal includes north indian and south indian meals. the quality is okieshh. the registration process for hostels is held during the admission process itself an you get to choose the hostel and room in which you want to get accomaodted. the fees of the hostels per sem is around 35k.

the eligibility of the course is getting a good rank in jee mans examinations. the form is rolled out every year around november and the fees is around 10000( for unreserved) and 800 (for reserved catagerioes). the benefits i got due to reservation is that i was able to get admission to this collage at just 92 percentile while normally genral students get admission to this collage at 96 precentile. the exam structure involves quiz1 midsems quiz 2 and endsems having their respective weitage. for me the admission process was smooth just a piece of advice keep your original documents like 12th marksheet, tc, adhaar card, jee main results, hall ticket ready for a smooth admission expirience.
