Course Curriculum Overview

4

My course is Engineering physics which is more of engineering part of physics in which you learnt the applications of core physics concepts. Its core field is mainly for research purposes but in IIT you have many other fields open so you can explore IT finance any field. In my views I find my course very hectic as you have to learn the core concepts and get grasp. You should opt this only if you have very high interest in physics don't just see cutoffs. Faculty in my course and I college are really good but some of them are very strict so you have to study well to get good grades.

Internships Opportunities

4

At IIT Roorkee, internship opportunities are abundant, offering valuable hands-on experience. Companies like Amazon, Tata Motors, and Deloitte offer roles in software development, marketing, and consulting, with stipends ranging from ?20,000 to ?1,00,000 per month. Interns work on diverse projects such as developing mobile applications, optimizing supply chain processes, and conducting market research. The outcomes of these projects often include tangible solutions implemented by the companies, contributing to real-world impact and providing valuable learning experiences for students. It requires you to do various projects in your field. For circuital branch it easier to get internship but if you are good enough you will get it ensure that you have good CG.

Placement Experience

3.5

Campus placements, which typically start from the seventh semester. However, our college has a stellar placement record, with top companies like Google, Microsoft, and Goldman Sachs visiting campus and offering lucrative packages. The average package varies across departments but is generally high. As for me, I plan to explore internship opportunities to gain practical experience and enhance my employability before aiming for campus placements in the future. The average package of college is around 18 lpa. Highest for CSE obviously. And for my branch as most of students go for research is low but thos who get good placements. This year average is around 16lpa

Fees and Financial Aid

So the fee structure for all is like: Total fee -100000(tution)+30000-50000(accomodation and mess). Tution fee is only for general and OBC students not for SC/ST. For fee remission there is SCSP website for IITR where you can apply and get tution fee waiver only if your parental income is below 5lac. Full tution fee waiver 100000 for income below 1 lac 1/3 tution fee waiver 33000 above 1 below 5lac They ask for ITR filing in the scholarship form

Campus Life

5

As an IIT Roorkee student, campus life is dynamic and fulfilling. Our annual festivals like "Thomso" (October) and "Cognizance" (March) blend cultural and technical experiences. The library offers a vast range of books and journals, easily accessible for academic pursuits. Classrooms are equipped with modern facilities and technological provisions, enhancing the learning environment. Sports and extracurricular activities cater to diverse interests, from cricket to robotics competitions. Student-run groups like the "Entrepreneurship Development Cell" and "Literary Society" provide platforms for skill development and networking, enriching student life significantly. The best thing about campus is nature and greenery and the hostel Life is full of fun.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostels are nice not necessarily for 1st year but the quality is very nice. In the first and second year you get double accomodation sadly but after that you get single rooms. Room quality are nice you get good furniture table almirah. Mess is very nice in IIT as u get really good quality food sometimes it's not really good but you can understand they are making for 1200 people so in that prospect food is good. The hygiene is ngood. You must get registered for hostel at the time of admission. Every one has to reside in hostel you cand opt rental outside.

Admission

The admission process involved clearing the JEE Advanced after passing the JEE Main exam. The application process included filling out forms, submitting required documents, and participating in counseling rounds. The cutoff for JEE Advanced 2022 varied depending on factors like the category and the chosen branch of engineering. However, I found the process quite competitive and stressful, especially considering the high cutoff scores required for admission. Additionally, the extensive syllabus and the pressure to perform well in the exams were challenging aspects of the admission process. Cutoff for general was 88 for OBC was 66 and I don't know about other

Students become eligible for placements in the 7th sem. Recently, Visa visited our college but didn’t make any offers. The highest package in 2024 was 84 LPA, while the average is around 4 LPA. Nearly 80% of students get placed across different companies. After my degree, I plan to build strong tech skills and aim for a good software developer role.

Godrej, Infosys and likewise tech and non-technical companies which have decided to have some AI engineers in their ranks are coming to our college. Also since our college don't have such big strength like the private universities have and therefore placements final figures may be small but in all, our percentage of placements are better and higher than those of the private universities.

Placement Experience:

Campus placement are quite bad as only a few companies come to our college for placement drive . Students becomes eligible for campus placement from the 3rd year onwards . Companies visited like TCS , HCL and some other not much popular companies visited but this year placement is very low . Our college also fake advertising about the placement they advertise the interships also as placements. 10 to 20 percent in BTech CSE are getting only Placement. I don't know what I will do after getting degree but currently I am doing a side by side diploma from IIT Roorkee to get some extra knowledge and skill improvement for better placements.

Oracle, Microsoft, DeShaw and almost every company which needs IT services have looked upon GEU because we are trained that way. This is the reason our median has gone up and this year was a breakout year for placements for GEU as over 15-20 students were hired for packages of over 40 LPA.
