Greenery and garden of our hostel which consists of many types of flowers.
Good friends, not only our department but also others.
Good faculty who are very compatible to clear your doubts

Dislikes

The food here is very bad. It has no salt and spice in it.
Some people here have regional feelings so which they give less chance for other regional people in participating in events
Some hostels have no gym , washing machine facilities and also no proper courts to play outdoor games

Course Curriculum Overview

I chose this course because I was interested in Chemistry. All faculties are very co-operative and make sure that the concept is understandable to students. Curriculum load is not very bad but we can manage. Each semester is of 4 months. One mid sem exam for 2 months and one end sem exam in last month is conducted for every semester. Class consists of around 54 members.

Class Size: 54Course Fees: INR 175000 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarship can be availed to reserved candidates. Fee to be paid per year is 175000. But reserved candidates no need to pay the tution fee. Campus placements are very good for our department where the average package is around 6 lpa.

Campus Life

Nit Rourkela is very huge that we need cycles to roam, greenery is everywhere with pleasant weather. Biju Pattnaik Library is the central library of our campus where we get many books related to our course. We have projector in our classes. Student Activity Centre runs the events and many clubs ,it also have 4 societies. There is portal called nitris for all students where they can check their attendance, results and time table. If you are a person who enjoys greenery , then you can opt this campus.

Admission

I got admission into this campus by writing JEE mains. I applied for this exam during 12th class. JEE is conducted by National Testing Agency, application fee and application dates are mentioned in its website. Any one can apply for this exam who passed 12th class. After getting the results, choices are filled in JoSAA website. Cut-offs are changed every year, and I got my 26th choice that is Ceramic Engineering in NIT Rourkela.

Honest Opinion in the college

Placement Experience:

There are internship opportunities at the starting of 3rd year and job opportunities at the starting or 4th year. This year many companies visited the campus which include DE Shaw, Flipkart, Oracle, TCS, VISA(for summer internship drive), and various start-ups like Sarvam AI and many more. Highest package was 56.8LPA by DE Shaw. Flipkart took a total of 20 candidates (12 were selected for 34.5LPA and 8 for internship opportunities). Average package going around 9LPA. TCS mass recruited candidates for around 4 LPA, and ORACLE has been consistent at taking candidates for 24 to 25 LPA. Percentage of Students placed for CSE branch is 90. Many students opt for M Tech courses via GATE exam after getting their degree.

Value For money college

Course Curriculum Overview:

I mainly chose this course because the college is Autonomous, which allows them to update the syllabus faster than standard university colleges; seeing subjects like Python and Data Science in the early semesters really influenced my decision. The curriculum is decent for getting placed in service-based companies like TCS or Wipro since they focus heavily on the basics and aptitude, though for high-end product roles or research, you have to put in extra effort yourself. I definitely think they need to reduce the theory load and focus more on practical coding because sometimes it feels like we are just writing assignments instead of building things. Also, the junior faculty rely too much on reading from slides, which really needs to change to make classes more engaging. As for exams, it feels like we are always writing them since we have two internals and one end-semester exam per term. They are moderately difficult and the checking is strict, so you can't slack off, but the tight schedule can get quite exhausting.

Placement Experience:

From 6th sem of completion eligible to sit in placement called by campus placement in university. Companies like accenture, techmahindra,tech bee,and wipro comes for hiring. Highest package till now is 29 lpa and lowest is 1.5 lpa. Average package is 5lpa. Mostly 80 percentage of students getting placement from campus drive. My plan after getting degree is getting job from campus drive.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for placement from their 3rd year onwards. It has been only 2-3 months but I have seen several companies arriving at the college, prominent ones being Flipkar,Deloitte, Xerox, TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Microsoft, Dell and several others including startups. There is no accurate data on how many offers have been made this year, but there are rumours that more than 95% of the eligible students have got placements. After getting a degree my plans are if I dont land into a satisfying job then I will start my preparation of the military or start a new business.

NIT ROURKELA THE ACTUAL REVIEW

I had a choice for chemical engineering in NIT Calicut,kerala my home state but i was not interested in chemistry so I dropped that choice and preferred electrical engineering in NIT Rourkela because choosing this would be more related to core and computer field which also was the one I was interested in.
