Likes

The hostel is good.cleanliness is taken care of by the college.
Many shops and eatables , restaurant are placed inside our campus which is near to us.
The placements of our college is good and constantly improving.

Dislikes

Sports facilities can be improved.Gym is available but has limited equipments.
Classrooms are not air conditioned.In summer it becomes very difficult for the students as bhubaneswar has a very humid climate.
A large piece of land infront of girls hostel can be improved to a park or any sports complex

Course Curriculum Overview

Course curriculum followed is quite similar to other btech colleges.Faculties are fine.Most of the faculties have done their PhD from iits and nits.mid sems and end sems are quite difficult.faculty to student ratio is 1:15

Internships Opportunities

Companies visit the campus to provide internship opportunities to the students of fifth semester. companies like oracle, Dell, informatica, media.net provide internship opportunities. Students also go for off campus internship opportunities.

Placement Experience

Placements are good with a avg package of about 11-12lpa. 40companies have visited our campus which includes media.net, oracle, Amazon, zscaler, informatica, Tiger analytics, Dell etc.Highest on campus offer was 39lpa by media.net and the highest off campus package was about 86lpa.About 94% of registered students got placed.I would like to get placed in a good company after my graduation.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees per year is approximately 250000.Hostel fees is 18000 per year for triple occupancy and 25000 for single occupancy.Different types of scholarships are available.Tfw is available for odisha candidates.

Campus Life

The campus is quite compact but well maintained with every facilities. cricket, football fields are available. basketball, badminton and tennis courts are also available. Advaita is the techno cultural fest of our college which is the largest fest of odisha.Our college consists of a central library which has all kinds of books and magazines, daily newspaper is also available. 13 clubs and societies are available for every kind of interests e.g photogeeks, cult society, TARS etc

Hostel Facilities

The hostels have triple occupancy and single rooms which are spacious and clean.almirahs have been provided.common bathrooms and toilets are provided.Mess food is eatable????.Triple occupancy room costs 18000 per year.

The admission process was quite smooth.Counselling is done through josaa for ota and for odisha candidates counselling is done separately on the website of college.50% seats are reserved for state candidates.category and girl child reservation is also available

Course Curriculum Overview:

1. Relevance & Comprehensiveness (Rating: 7/10) The course curriculum at SOA is updated frequently compared to state government colleges. Why I chose this: I was attracted to the fact that the syllabus includes modern electives like Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and Data Analytics starting from the 3rd year itself, rather than waiting for the final semester. Real-world Prep: The curriculum is designed largely to crack placement interviews. There is a heavy focus on Aptitude and Core Coding subjects (DS/Algo) which helps in getting a job. However, for deep research or R&D roles, the theoretical depth is sometimes lacking. 2. Areas for Improvement Teaching Methods: A major issue is the reliance on PowerPoint Presentations (PPTs). Many faculty members just read off the slides. I would prefer more "Whiteboard Teaching" for mathematical and logic-based subjects. Lab Records: We spend hours handwriting practical records/files which are just copied from the manual. This is a waste of time. This time should be used for live coding projects or hackathons. Outdated Subjects: First-year students (even in CS/IT) are forced to learn heavy mechanical/civil concepts. While basics are good, the depth of these non-core subjects should be reduced. 3. Exam System & Difficulty Frequency: It is quite hectic. We have 2 semesters a year. Each semester has 2 Internal Assessments (Quizzes/Mid-sems) and 1 End-Semester Exam. Basically, you have an exam every 1.5 to 2 months. Difficulty: The exams are Easy to Moderate. It is not very difficult to pass. If you study the "Class Notes" and "Previous Year Questions" for 3-4 days before the exam, you can easily score an 8.0 SGPA. The checking is lenient for passing, but strict if you are aiming for a 9.5+ SGPA.

Life at NIST

Placement Experience:

I actually have a very little idea about placements of our uni few seniors says there is not a single company visiting, while few were discussing the highest placement which was something like 20lpa or something,i think companies do visit our campus it may not be much but i have definetly seen one or two companies visiting. I plan to do MBA after my Btech so i am not that serious about whether i am getting placed or not.

Value For money college

Course Curriculum Overview:

I mainly chose this course because the college is Autonomous, which allows them to update the syllabus faster than standard university colleges; seeing subjects like Python and Data Science in the early semesters really influenced my decision. The curriculum is decent for getting placed in service-based companies like TCS or Wipro since they focus heavily on the basics and aptitude, though for high-end product roles or research, you have to put in extra effort yourself. I definitely think they need to reduce the theory load and focus more on practical coding because sometimes it feels like we are just writing assignments instead of building things. Also, the junior faculty rely too much on reading from slides, which really needs to change to make classes more engaging. As for exams, it feels like we are always writing them since we have two internals and one end-semester exam per term. They are moderately difficult and the checking is strict, so you can't slack off, but the tight schedule can get quite exhausting.

Placement are descent enogh. After 6th semester students become eligible for campus placement drive and become eligible for internships in 2nd year itself. Highest paid CTC was 39LPA and average package is around 10 LPA.

Comprehensive Review of Campus life at IIIT Bhubaneswar

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placementfrom the beginning of 7th semester. Major companies that visit include Oracle, Media.net, Tiger Analytics, Incture, Quantiphi, Capgemini, Tech Mahindra, Informatica and many others. The highest package offered was 24 LPA by Zscaler, while the average package for the electronics branch stands at 6 LPA. This year placements were affected by the recession, resulting in approx 100 students remaining unplaced.
