Remarks

Good things - College life, college events, infrastructure Bad things - Hectic academic schedule, average faculty, paying for meals.

Entrance Preview

Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). I got 380 rank. I had the option of choosing between NLIU-Bhopal and NLUJodhpur, and I chose NLUJ. There were two main reasons why I chose NLUJ over NLIU.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Moot court exercises are mandatory in all colleges. But the special thing about NLUJ is that there are moot exercises from first semester onwards, which helps in improving your oral skills a lot right from the beginning. Other that that course curriculum is very properly framed. Law is given the preference. Each semester from first to third year, there are 4 law subjects and 2 BBA/ba subjects.

Internships Opportunities

Our college has a committee called as Recruitment & Internship Committee, which helps you in getting an internship right from the first semester. Stipend differs from firm to firm, and it depends on where you intern. After the fifth semester, RICC helps you in getting an internship in top-tier firms. You can also get an internship for yourselves.

Placement Experience

4.5

Placement is good. Many of the students get Pre-placement offers, and many get jobs on Day-Zero. The rest of the people who want jobs and have not gotten so far, get jobs in their last semester, or after passing out of college. If you have a good enough batch rank, and have participated in moot competitions, and done internships, you'll be able to get a job. Top tier firms do come to our college in the fourth year, and a number of students get placed.

Fee Structure And Facilities

A little expensive in comparison with other law colleges. Fees is around INR 2 Lakhs(excluding Mess facilities). You have to pay for your meal everytime, whether it is breakfast, lunch or dinner. Everything else in included in the fees of ?2lakhs, gym facilities, library, hostel, etc.

Fees and Financial Aid

No. I don't know of any such scholarships or loan facilities offered by my college. Though SBI provides student loans.

Alumni/Alumna

Senior students will help you when you just entered the college and need guidance. They provide you with books and advice as to how to manage your time, and everything. Alumni network of our college is also strong, as many of them are placed in top tier firms.

Exam Structure

Exam structure is what is the most hectic part of this college. Each subject has four tests(you are required to give three out of those four), then there is a midterm, if not, there will be a project, there are sometimes presentations and teaching assignments in some subjects, and an end-term. Overall, there are hardly any days where you are "absolutely free". As I told before there is a compulsory courtroom exercise, worth 10% marks in every law subject.

Admission

I dropped an year, to prepare for CLAT exam. I scored around 149 marks out of 200, which resulted in me getting a rank of 380. During the filling of CLAT form I had given a preference list, and according to that I was eligible for NLIU-Bhopal and NLUJodhpur. I chose NLUJodhpur for the reasons stated before.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course as from 10th std I wanted to be like my late grandfather who was a lawyer. More then curriculum, interning in courts would be better from your 1st year. More practical moots and research activities+ educational visits would be more improvising. Exams are moderate on level of difficulty, and exams dates come suddenly... Usually within the 1st in sem> 2 months gap> 2nd in sem and within 20 days finals.

Placement Experience:

This is far most one of the negative aspect of this University. I would never recommend anyone on the basis of campus placements here since it is absolutely worthless. Campus placements are not at all good as the number and quality of companies visiting the college as far as Law dept. is considered, it is very disappointing. There are no good placement drives conducted my the college. The package offered is extremely low even of offered rarely. The percentage of students getting placed is also low. I personally was also not able to get placed by the University. My plans are to gain some work experience in the legal sector and peruse higher education in law from abroad.

Remarks:

It's good Most people have to sit down and decide whether college is worth wilde for them. Attending college can have many positive and negative effects. A few negative effects are debt, partying, sexual assault, missing family and friends, and stress. Positive effects are he/she gets a degree, makes new friends, becomes more diverse, most likely gets a good job after graduating, and helps he/she to become more independant and grow as an individual. Starting off with the negative effects of attending college. Tuition has skyrocketed over the years leaving college students thousands of dollars in debt right out of highschool, since many people cannot afford to fully pay their schooling off.

Good place. It's a little hot here, though. But in all honesty, it's one of the best places to study law, in the country. It's a balance of rigorous of academics and an extremely liberal cultural environment.
