Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

In iiit bhubaneswar i got ETC branch. In my college the ETC branch is okay okay. I did not choose the branch I got this branch due to cutoff. The faculty student ratio is 1:10.the teachers are all done phd. Only few professor teaching method is good. Many seniors told that the ETC branch is hard and the professors are also strict.

Internships Opportunities

4

Now I am in second semester that's why I don't know to much but according to seniors many company are come for internship like dell.they also provide a good stipend. But for eligible criteria is your cgpa should be more than 8.5

Placement Experience

4

I would say the placement of college is not bed but not good also. The average package of cse branch is 12 lac per year, ce branch is 11 lac per year, it branch is 11 lac per year, ETC branch 9 lac per year, eee branch 8 lac per year. But the percentage of student placed in ETC and EEE branch is not good it is less than 60% , this is because many student go for higher study that's why the percentage of placement is low. My plan after getting degree is doing job.

Fees and Financial Aid

Total 4 years including hostel, mess, tution fees are 1200000.which is not too high but higher than many different college like nit and iit. In the college scholarship opportunity came for only odisha student. For general category student their is no scholarship. Percentage of student placed on campus is 54% .

Campus Life

3.5

The campus life is not too good or bed. The tech fest name is d3.The annual fest name is advaita which is conduct in february month.the fest is good conducted by college the fund for fest is also good. So that it conduct well. Many books which is necessary for student are present in library. There is amenities in classroom. The sports facility is good but not for cricket and football because their is a common ground of football and cricket.

Hostel Facilities

3

In the 1 room of hostel three student can stay, they provide one bed, one study table, one chair, one almera, one fan for each student but their is one common light in room. The meal quality in mess is okay okay. The hostel is affordable.

Admission

For taking admission in iiit bhubaneswar, first I have to giva a exam which is known as jee mains. By the jee mains exam result I take admission. According to different colleges , individual they have different cutoff for taking admission in iiit bhubaneswar. I got 94.67 percentile in jee mains and got ETC branch in iiit bhubaneswar. Then I came to iiit bhubaneswar for admission. In a room their was running a admission process where everyone student with their parents follow the admission process.

Siksha 'O' Anusandhan University - [SOA], Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Reviewed on Jan 9, 2026(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

1. Relevance & Comprehensiveness (Rating: 7/10) The course curriculum at SOA is updated frequently compared to state government colleges. Why I chose this: I was attracted to the fact that the syllabus includes modern electives like Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and Data Analytics starting from the 3rd year itself, rather than waiting for the final semester. Real-world Prep: The curriculum is designed largely to crack placement interviews. There is a heavy focus on Aptitude and Core Coding subjects (DS/Algo) which helps in getting a job. However, for deep research or R&D roles, the theoretical depth is sometimes lacking. 2. Areas for Improvement Teaching Methods: A major issue is the reliance on PowerPoint Presentations (PPTs). Many faculty members just read off the slides. I would prefer more "Whiteboard Teaching" for mathematical and logic-based subjects. Lab Records: We spend hours handwriting practical records/files which are just copied from the manual. This is a waste of time. This time should be used for live coding projects or hackathons. Outdated Subjects: First-year students (even in CS/IT) are forced to learn heavy mechanical/civil concepts. While basics are good, the depth of these non-core subjects should be reduced. 3. Exam System & Difficulty Frequency: It is quite hectic. We have 2 semesters a year. Each semester has 2 Internal Assessments (Quizzes/Mid-sems) and 1 End-Semester Exam. Basically, you have an exam every 1.5 to 2 months. Difficulty: The exams are Easy to Moderate. It is not very difficult to pass. If you study the "Class Notes" and "Previous Year Questions" for 3-4 days before the exam, you can easily score an 8.0 SGPA. The checking is lenient for passing, but strict if you are aiming for a 9.5+ SGPA.

I actually have a very little idea about placements of our uni few seniors says there is not a single company visiting, while few were discussing the highest placement which was something like 20lpa or something,i think companies do visit our campus it may not be much but i have definetly seen one or two companies visiting. I plan to do MBA after my Btech so i am not that serious about whether i am getting placed or not.

Gandhi Engineering College (GEC Autonomous), Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Reviewed on Dec 22, 2025(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

I mainly chose this course because the college is Autonomous, which allows them to update the syllabus faster than standard university colleges; seeing subjects like Python and Data Science in the early semesters really influenced my decision. The curriculum is decent for getting placed in service-based companies like TCS or Wipro since they focus heavily on the basics and aptitude, though for high-end product roles or research, you have to put in extra effort yourself. I definitely think they need to reduce the theory load and focus more on practical coding because sometimes it feels like we are just writing assignments instead of building things. Also, the junior faculty rely too much on reading from slides, which really needs to change to make classes more engaging. As for exams, it feels like we are always writing them since we have two internals and one end-semester exam per term. They are moderately difficult and the checking is strict, so you can't slack off, but the tight schedule can get quite exhausting.
