My Manipal College Experience

In Sem 1 we are divided into Physics and Chemistry Cycle..Ig u got Chem Cycle in Sem 1 then u will be in Physics Cycle in Sem 2. Chem Cycle subjects are:- Engineering Chemistry Basic Electrical Technology Engineering Mathematics(1 or 2)- common for both cycles Environmental Studies Problem Solving Using Computers- C language Biology For Engineers Chemistry Lab Engineering Graphics (1 or 2) Lab- common for both cycles Faculty to student ratio is 8:100 Faculty are highly qualified with most professors having PHDs from NITs or MIT itself Term exams were on a level slightly lower than JEE prep...it varies from person to person..but do take these exams seriously and study everyday..aim for 9+ cgpa to get a good hostel room.

Many internships are available, some within the college and some outside the college as well. Stipends are decent. Long summer break between years gives a good opportunity to take an internship at that time

Students become eligible for placement from 7th semester onwards. Certain companies do not select student having backlogs or may have a CGPA requirement Companies like Microsoft, Infosys,etc visit the campus Highest package is 60 lpa and avg package is 40 lpa

The fees are on the higher side since it is a private college...Total fee is 1626000 For Mechanical Engineering Course. No scholarship availed in 1st Year Scholarships are available in 2nd year based on 1st year performance

Two main fests are held every year- Revels and Tech Tatva In which Revels in an intercollegiate fest and Tech Tatva is a intracollegiate event The MIT library is well stocked having plenty of books of different genres and types..A huge selection of Reference books as well. The classroom is AC equipped, capable of an occupancy of 150 persons with a LED projector and a blackboard...The professor uses chalk for writing. Many sports facilities are available namely Basketball, Football, Badminton and Hockey. SAE and ASME are two student clubs I have joined

I opted for a single Non-Ac Room. The selection of room is on a first come first serve basis and based on rank in MET exam as well. The room is well equipped having a private bathroom and is regularly cleaned. The mees food is decent (Food Court 2 Mess), with some days having a special menu. Hostel Accomodation is on the higher side.

Only way to get admitted to the college is through the MET exam. Registration for MET can be done on the manipal.edu website...it is held in 2 sessions, one in April and another in May. Reservation can be done through NRI quota but fees are extra More flexibility in branches during admission round is required
