Remarks

The college I was studying in is an all girls college. There were numerous facilities provided to us and all the teachers were very sensitive in understanding our situations. We used to have functions on various religious occasions. We had students from various casts, cultures, religions and sexual orientations and the environment was very hospitable; giving respect to every sentiment of the children. The overall experience was amazing and on the scale of 10, I would give them a 10.

Entrance Preview

After giving the 12 th board examination, I was kind of scared of how to go about college. Then, I got to know that the Delhi University doesn’t have any entrance examination; all of this works on the basis of your 12 th board examination marks. The college I was studying in is affiliated to the Delhi University and follows the same process as under DU. Basically, a cut off list is released that makes you eligible for admission. For example- If the cut-off of a particular course in a college is 98%, and I have scored 98% in my best four subjects (doesn’t include second language and courses like PE), then I can go to that particular college and get myself enrolled. There is no interview process followed as such. The comprehensiveness of the course made me choose it.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

As I mentioned earlier, the course was comprehensive. It indeed made me socially aware. The course starts with the basics and then in a later stage detailed concepts of English Grammar as well as Literature is introduced. The course curriculum is so easy that anyone could get through it. Along the way, the teachers here had been very supportive and believe in practical learning. We had performed dramas, plays and participated in many debating competings across Delhi-NCR. This was all possible due to our teachers help. Yes, there are research initiatives taken by the institute, it is basically the student’s choice to do it or not.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, college does offer internship, but I had preferred choosing it on my own. The college internship experience is subjective. I believe one can have a great internship experience in a start up since there is a lot of work load; you basically learn when there is a load on you. I had a good experience through the course of my internship, I indeed learnt a lot. The average stipend amount depends from firm to firm. I got 7k per month in the firm that I worked.

Placement Experience

2.5

LSR is amongst the top 5 colleges in Delhi university. The placements and job opportunities offered were great and well paid. Approx 90% of the students of the main branches like Bsc, BCom got easily placed.; but arts students have less choices available. My aim was to go for a MA degree in English and hence I didn't sit for the placements. Mostly all my branch students either went for MA or have started working as lecturers or have got enrolled themselves under an experienced writer. I don't have the exact details but yes the package offered is very good.

College Events

5

The University as a whole organizes uncountable events to draw the attention of not only the students studying in the colleges under the university but also the students of various colleges. There are many events organized exclusively according to the interest of the students. Example: The Tech Fest. The two major events organized by our college are “The Diwali Mela” by NSS and “Tarang” the annual cultural fest. They have a huge footfall each year and intercollege competitions are also organized by the students to maintain the zeal. My college management is efficient and works to help the students to celebrate festivals, we do have a youth club that takes hold of this and under it, the events are conducted.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Being a government institute, it is quite affordable. The fee varies within a range of 15,000-30,000 a year. It basically depends on the course you’ve opted for. Also, there is a variation in the fee structure each year for a particular course. Its much cheaper than those private institutes.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes, the college does give a chance to the students to grab a good amount in the form of a scholarship. But grabbing this opportunity is a hard task since the students who are academically brilliant are the only ones receiving it. No, I certainly did not avail for any loans.

Campus Life

4.5

To be frank, the LSR campus experience was more than amazing; you have endless opportunities to achieve something in terms of extracurriculars but the competition is tough, you really have to be the best to achieve something not only in terms of extracurriculars but overall. There are ample opportunities given to you in the college to explore your inner talents; for example, holding workshops, letting us play sports, letting us play songs for dance practices, etc. All the facilities provided are up to the mark.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Yes, I was residing in a hostel. Initially, in the first year, we were randomly assigned a roommate to share the room with. In the second year, we were allowed to choose our own roommate and in the third year, we were allotted a single room only on the basis of the marks we score. We used to have dorm parties and a lot of fun. The mess food was good; we used to get sweet dish too. I paid a round figure of 50,000 rupees a year. Personally, I really don’t have any idea about PGs but lot of PGs and flats were available near the college in Lajpat Nagar, New Friends Colony.

Alumni/Alumna

My seniors in the college were very interactive and helpful, ever since they’ve helped me to understand this new world. After them being passed out of the college, the college alumna cell had made sure to conduct alumni meets so that the alumni too contribute to the overall development of the students. Other societies also bring alumni to the college. I, now being the alumni of the college, am sure that I’m going to receive an invitation soon for the same.

Exam Structure

The course I was studying did not have much of practical work and therefore, we did not have labs. We had more classes as compared to other colleges, our other DU friends used to get free very early and I certainly do feel that it was very hectic for all of us since attendance was a way to score extra well. There were assignments and tests for internal evaluations and besides this the end semester exams, that used to scare the freak out of us. I would say, the culture isn’t that chill.

Faculty

5

The whole faculty is highly qualified and helps their students to learn beyond books. They believe in applying the things that students learn and therefore, in the beginning of every class there used to be a questionnaire of the previous class, basically a practical questionnaire. Beyond this, they do took initiatives to help us develop values and try to develop personalities of the students by making them interact to the class. They helped me building self confidence and tried to boost our self esteem by telling us that we can make it. They also took up queries beyond classes and do lend an ear when needed. On the scale of 10, I would rate them 10 on 10.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is a bit too theoretical and less practical. The exams in the college takes places every month which are seasonals and are for internal marking and then we have semester exams in every 6 months which accounts for the external marking.

This course curriculum includes learning across 2 feilds like i have economics and maths and later we can continue 4th year to get hons degree . So its really gives time for a person to test himself or herself about which field to go on for as specialization. The difficulty level for this course is easy to moderate.
