Course Curriculum Overview
I was pretty passionate about Economics and so I took this course. Most of the alumni from our department have Master's in Economics from DSE, MSE, JNU, IGIDR, IIMs. Our department takes up very few students to keep an excellent student teacher ratio. We have professors who have passed out of Jadavpur University, Burdwan University, Delhi School of Economics, Maulana Azad College. Exams are held in the End of Semesters as well as in the middle of Semesters along with tutorial and practical exams.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees structure is quite decent given the huge infrastructure that the college provides. Fees are hiked by 100/- per year. We receive SVMCM, Inspire as well as many private scholarships. The college too provides various scholarships for EWS students.
Campus Life
We don't have a club structure. But there are several add on courses that we join including classical vocal music, violin, guitar, flute, vedic chanting, recitation, filmmaking, acting, German language courses. The library has huge collector books. Individual departments too have their own library. Regular sports activities like cricket, badminton, volleyball, football, table tennis are arranged. Annual sports is arranged every year. The college has a badminton court and a swimming pool.
Hostel Facilities
We have been provided with a bed, almirah and a study chair table. Four people stay in each rooms. Every hostel has a common room with basic indoor games, television. Every hostel has their own library facility. Meals are provided 4 times a day with decent quality.
Admission
We had to give an admission test of 50 marks based on Mathematics and Communicative English. Application forms, Course details are all available on the college website. Reservation for SC,ST,OBC, PWD, EWS available. The admission process is actually good since it's totally merit based. Having BSc in Economics actually gives us access to many other subjects like Computer Science and Statistics to be taken up as Generic Elective.
Interview Experience
Interview questions included mostly logical questions, some basic questions from economics. Admission test is the first step of getting admission. I just practiced the topics of my 12th board exams. I didn't able up anything extra for the test
