NIT-KKR through a fresher's eyes

I chose engineering because I was passionate about it. Though I dreamt of IIT faith brought me here(I have no regrets). The faculties are good at their job. All teachers have different ways of teaching. Some professors are really supportive and polite. We have 2 mid sems and an end sem per semester. Papers are not so difficult. We can easily score good marks studying a week prior.

The placement rate was approximately 82%. The average package was 13 lakhs last year though there is no official data. The highest packages were from the electronics and electrical department from the last 2 years. As the location of the college is good, many students go for off-campus placements too.

The course fee is approximately 1 lakh per semester excluding the mess and electricity charges which are 40k which are refundable according to your consumption in the mess. This is a fee structure for students with annual incomes greater than 5 lakh. Scholarships are available to students with income < 5 lakh per annum. As I'm a 1st year student, I don't have much idea about the jobs for now.

The campus is rich with greenery. The main cultural fest is Confluence which is held in October. Teams from different colleges participate in this. The tech fest named Techsparda will be held in January. The classrooms are spacious and air-conditioned. The course books are issued to us per semester from the library for free. The sports culture is great. We have a huge ground, swimming pool and teams for all sports. Different clubs include the fine arts club, management clubs, photography, and more.

We have got single seater rooms in 1st year(for girls only). The room is spacious and has a balcony too. There's a common washroom. Washing machines are also available(Rs. 40 per wash). The mess food feels good to me though it's a subjective question. The hostel life is great and you'll make a lot of nice friends. The only con is the hostel in timing for the girls which is 8:30 p.m.

Management was not appreciable. We had to wait for 12 hours for document verification with no facilities. The admission process continued till 2 a.m. and most of the admissions that were assigned on that particular day were shifted to the next day. The parents were furious about this reckless behavior of the institute.
