Course Curriculum Overview

3

I chose mechanical engineering because of its flexibility in core and software jobs. Also because of mnnit's lower fees as compared to other institutions like Bits Pilani where I was getting admission also. The student-faculty ratio is not too good here, as a single class has almost 60-70 students present. All the faculty have a Ph.D. and thus are qualified in their respective fields. however, some of the teachers find it difficult to make the subject interesting enough for the students and also present the slides in a bland way. Hence some classes become useful almost only for attendance. However, there are good profs as well who are easy to approach and good teachers. Examinations here are tough to Ace because of the in-depth level of questions. One must start preparing early to get above 8-9 pointers. However, it depends on the subject and the teachers on how they evaluate or set up the paper.

Internships Opportunities

4

For ME companies like Bajaj come for core internships and Oracle, Microsoft, etc (most major companies) for software. Firms like JP Morgan also come. A lot of software companies give attractive stipends of 90-100k per month.

Placement Experience

5

Students become eligible for campus placements in the 3-4th year. The highest package this year was 1.35 cpa from CSE. The tech placements are excellent. Around 80-90 percent get placed. I want to pursue a career in tech, but I'm open to further studies in MBA.

Fees and Financial Aid

Every semester 12k is for hostel fees, 24k for institution fees, and 62k for tuition fees. This is for a general category, and reserved students have lower fees. Companies provide stipends for internships.

Campus Life

3.5

We have Culrav our cultural fest, and Avishkar our tech fest, as well as multiple inter-nit contests. Most fests are held in April. Multiple tech clubs are present namely robotics, coding, astronomy, and aerospace clubs, as well as personality development clubs like literary clubs. Anokhi peel is a wonderful initiative by students of MNNIT whereby they teach underprivileged students on their own, and its auditioning process is very strict in order to selectively choose the best student teachers. There are a variety of sports clubs in our college, and almost all the most common sports have a separate club. however, due to reasons, many clubs don't participate in international competitions. The classroom amenities are sub-par. Most of the classrooms are quite small and old. Some have defective projectors. However, there are also large, and well-equipped classes like nlh1/2.

Admission

MNNIT admits students via jee mains score for the BTech program. For mechanical engineering this year one must get around 98 percentile for the general male category for admission. It also allows admission through csab process. This year however the academic session started earlier than csab and because of this many students admitted through csab missed the initial lectures and orientation. So if you are getting admission through Jee Mains, it's better to report to the college, and then continue your CSAB special rounds and if you get admission into another institute, you can join it and drop out of mnnit. However, the college/josaa/csab must realize clashes between schedule and admission process and ensure no loss of classes.

Average package at GLA University may range between 5-7 lakhs but one student has managed to get placements of 55 lakhs and that is still the record placement from GLA University campus Mathura. Around 70-75% students are placed every year but I will be preparing for GATE as my ambition are to be atleast post graduate if not a PHD.
