Course Curriculum Overview

5

The decision to choose the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) course at NIT Calicut could be influenced by factors such as personal interest in technology, future career prospects, and the institution's reputation for CSE programs. The faculty-to-student ratio in most NITs, including NIT Calicut, is generally favourable. It often falls within the range of 1:15 to 1:20. NITs like NIT Calicut usually have highly qualified faculty members with advanced degrees and research experience. Term exams at NITS are typically conducted according to an academic schedule. We have a lot of these though. The difficulty of passing exams can vary from course to course and from student to student. In general, NITS have a rigorous academic environment, and passing exams may require consistent effort and study.

Internships Opportunities

5

Company Names and the Stipend Details(per month): Deutsch bank - 75000 GoldmanSachs - 150000 Sprinkler - 200000 DE Shaw - 150000 Oracle - 100000 Wells Fargo - 90000 And many more. These are the details of the companies they visit on campus for the summer internship program for various roles.

Placement Experience

5

Students typically become eligible for campus placements from their seventh semester of study. However, eligibility criteria may vary by company and course. Salesforce, Intuit, Oracle, Sprinkler, DE Shaw, Goldman Sachs, Microsoft, and Amazon to name a few. The list is long. I have the entire pdf, which you can get via mailing me at ipranavprashant@gmail.com The percentage of students getting placed can vary from year to year and from course to course. NITS generally have a good placement record, with a significant portion of eligible students securing job offers. More than 90% in my opinion. Securing a good on-campus placement, and maybe an MBA after a couple of years of work experience.

Fees and Financial Aid

NITs typically have a fee structure set by the government. Fees are subject to periodic revision, and the policy for fee hikes can vary. It often depends on government regulations and budgetary considerations. I didn't get any as of now, the reason being I didn't apply for any.

Campus Life

5

NIT Calicut's annual cultural fest is known as "Ragam," and it typically takes place in late January or early February. The technical festival is called "Tathva," and it usually occurs in October. The NIT Calicut library is well-equipped with a wide range of books and journals to support academic research and learning. It provides access to both physical and digital resources. Classrooms at NIT Calicut are a but old, though it has projectors and mics which in my opinion are sweet enough. NIT Calicut encourages sports and extracurricular activities. It has sports facilities for various indoor and outdoor sports, including cricket, football, basketball, and more. There are also student clubs and societies for various interests, such as music, dance, drama, coding, robotics, and more. We have Technical and Cultural clubs like GDSC, Enquire, Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, FOSSCell etc.

Hostel Facilities

5

1. Hostel rooms at NIT Calicut typically include basic amenities such as a bed, study table, chair, cupboard, and often a LAN/Wifi connection for internet access. Some hostels in Mega Hostel may have attached bathrooms, while others have shared facilities. 2. The quality of meals in the hostel mess is sort of averagish. It's common for hostels to provide a variety of options, including vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. The menu usually changes regularly to offer diversity. 3. There's an app that provides the facilities for Hostel/Mess Registration. The app is created by a current student only ;) 4. Not Applicable.

Admission

Enrolling in the course doesn't require meeting specific eligibility criteria; your JEE rank is the key factor for admission. You can find comprehensive information about the admission process on the official websites of NTA's, JoSAA's, or NITC's. I was a home-state candidate. Nope, it is smooth though language happens to be a barrier sometimes, but nonetheless, you'll find someone who'll provide explanations in English to ensure a smooth understanding of the content.

The placement here is top notch. This year in my campus the highest CTC offered was 56.5lpa by PALOALTO. Placements process is centralised at coimbatore though. Students are eligible for campus placements from third year or s5. Average package in computing department ranges from 10-12lpa. My plans after degree is to pursue MS: opportunities of which are provided by the college itself. In computing department almost 90% of the students have been placed according to the seniors I talked to. However it is lower in other streams.

Civil engineering is a course with least placement in every engineering colleges. Students are placed during their fourth year in college. Sobha Constructions Ltd is one of the main companies that visits college. 200000rupees package is the average package offered. Les than 25 percent civil engineers get placed. I plan to prepare for GATE exam and pursue more in this course.
