Remarks

On in all, the college is good, the only drawback is that its sometime become difficult for north Indians to adjust in the north eastern atmosphere. The campus is huge, and a students lives a very happening life in here. The faculties are okay but not according to what I expected. The only benefit is that it is a government college.

Entrance Preview

JEE mains is the key to get admission in any of the NITs , including NIT Agartala. this exam is held every year for all the engineering aspirants in the country. It takes into your Class 12th marks into account as well. The Josaa committee holds the counselling session for those who have qualified the mains. According to our rank the colleges that we can apply and the course that we can choose are then shorted. No there is no Interview Process. I always wanted to a Engineer, inspired from my Mother and that too in NIT or IIT. I had a craze of doing computer science engineering and therefore I prefered and opted this course.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The Course curriculum is very compatible for students. Since it is one of the NIT, most of the curriculum is decided by the MHRD. The institute focuses on research based working among the students. Even a lot of efforts are given on practical learning of the students through labs, industry visit, internships etc. As such no research initiatives are known. The elective courses that are offered in NIT Agartala are: Chemical Eng, Civil Eng, CSE, ECE, EIE, Mechanical, Bio eng.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, our institution does provide internship opportunities in the college itself but in very few departments. Most of them are not paid so there is no stipend provided just a letter of recommendation.

Placement Experience

3.5

Placements are gradually getting good in NIT agartala. Companies like VIrtusa, Oracle,Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, GAIL, IOCL prefer to visit our Institution. The average package is of 5 lakh per annum approximately and it varies every year.

College Events

4

NIT agartala students organizes various cultural and technical events like AAYAM,the technical fest, Moksha, cultural fest, ADVAITAM ( Techno-Cultural Fest). Along with these festivals, various hubs like robotics hub, debating society etc organizes its own intra and inter college competitions with great cash prizes and certificates. The events keeps on happening all over the year.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Since it is a government funded institute, the college is very much affordable. Summing up all the fee particulars i.e. tuition fee, development fee, caution fee(refundable) etc, it is 77,000 for 1st semester. Since caution fee of 5000 and one time fees of 1500 is deducted in the subsequent semester, it reduces to 70000 approximately.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college has the policy of waiving 100% tuition fee for SC/ST students. A full cancellation of tuition fee for general and OBC students whose family income is less than 1 lakh per annum and a two-third amount is remitted for the families with the income between 1 lakh and 5 lakh per annum.Yes, the college also helps in getting loans from there tie-up banks.

Campus Life

3.5

The college has various hubs and societies which organize various co-curricular activities in the college. Our college is popular for its annual Debate competition and robotics competitions held at a very large scale. Even now I have also become the part of the Debating society. Since the college is situated in the north-eastern part of the country very less students participate from the northern region.

Hostel Facilities

3

Since this is one of the oldest institute in the country, the hostel buildings are pretty old but they provide all the basic necessities like hot water, drinking water, badminton, basket courts, tv rooms etc. We have single as well as twin sharing rooms in our hostels. The hostel fees is reasonable enough. it is 23,000 including the mess charges of 15,500/- for the 1st semester and reduces to 18000(approx) after deducting one time caution money of 5000. No PG options are available in the nearby areas because the college is far away from the main town.

Alumni/Alumna

The college organizes annual Alumni meet. It has been a different Alumni Cell for updating the records of the students. Even the hubs invite their former coordinators time to time for guest lectures or meetups.

Exam Structure

The schedules in the exam are not very hectic and it is almost same as other colleges i.e. there is a mid term and end term examinations, including internal teacher's assesment at the end of each semesters. there are Minor, Major projects, starting from the 5th semester of the course. Labs are not very frequent and we have the chill daily routines. Labs are only held 2 days a week and rest 3 days the second half is free.

Faculty

3

Most of the faculty are from NITs itself and are very well qualified and experienced but yet they are still assistant professors. There are only handful of Professors in our institute. The major drawback in here is that since Agartala is situated in the north-eastern part of the country, language becomes a barrier for communication with the faculties.

Every year placements happen and about 80 percent of the total students of the institute get placed in various dream tier and other companies with good packages. The packages depend on year to year, more specifically on hiring trends. I still did not make a decision for my post degree plans.
