- The campus, professors, teaching assistants. I loved how everyone helped me.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course as other than energy engineering in Bombay this is the course which attracts me the best. Also, I had a keen interest in physics but didn't want to pursue basic science so I chose this. Our batch strength for the EP department is 60. Out of which 12 are girls. So yes, a 4:1 ratio is there for boys: girls. Other than this, the faculty is mainly friendly. Except some of them are troublemakers. The teaching faculty is good. But grading-wise, you will be tested and many times they are strict unnecessarily. The faculty-student ratio is good. You have tas assigned you can go to them for doubts always. Term exams are a little hard. Professor though mainly focuses on understanding the concept rather than just solving the problems. You have to be attentive in class to pass the exams easily. It takes small efforts, but other than this it's easy.
Placement Experience
The campus placement cell is good. OCS is the name of the placement cell. Students with 4 year program can sit for placement in 4th year i.e. end of the 7th semester. Also if you are applying for an internship you can apply at the start of the 5th semester. BCG, JP Morgan, and many companies visit.
Fees and Financial Aid
You have to pay the fees semester-wise. The fee structure is different for different students. It is divided by your category first then by your income source. Other than this, IIT Delhi provides loan services on the campus itself. There are many alumni scholarships which you can surely avail. If you are facing any issues you can always contact any responsible person they will help you find a way out of that. There is an MCM scholarship for first-year students. Then at the end of each semester, the top 7%students get a scholarship award. Also, you can apply for a research internship under Prof. who will give you a stipend if applicable.
Campus Life
RDV and Tryst are the two most popular cultural and tech fests respectively in IITD. RDV happens around October -November times. The tryst is in March. Because of COVID situation, their dates and months were changed but again everything is normal. This helps you socialise more and more. Many clubs are available here. Freshers are introduced to them in the first year and some activities are planned for them so that they can choose their interests. There are cultural and technical clubs available. Other than this, there are sports facilities available. We have hostel-wise teams, instii-wise teams. Coaches are there to guide you. This will help you find your family here. The campus is not much bigger. But compared to Delhi it is enough. Classroom libraries are huge. There are shops at each hostel and some common shops available for stationary items on campus.
Hostel Facilities
Rooms are like normal hostel rooms. Girls have 4, 3, and 2 sharing rooms. The boys have 3,2,1 sharing rooms. Everyone gets their own cupboard and a small table. Light is enough in the room. Cleaning is done regularly. Mess food is good but it is north Indian. people from other regions may find it difficult to get comfortable with. The registration process is easy. Bsw helps you in doing that. As per prices in Delhi, it is an affordable hostel. If you want to take PG there are areas around us, like Jia Sarai, ber sarai, and katwarai sarai. The campus is located in Hauz Khas, South Delhi.
