Course Curriculum Overview
Chemical engineering is one of the best courses offered by the institute. The course is well designed and upto date with the industry level and requirements. The department provides a good faculty-student ratio i.e. 1:13. All the faculties of the department are PHD from the IITs and equivalent colleges in the country. Their teaching methods are good and easily understandable. The only language of communication between the students and faculties is English. The examination happens twice a semester, mid-sems & end-sems. The level of the question paper is bit tough and you need to get the full knowledge of the subject to qualify them.
Internships Opportunities
Institute offers a decent number of internship opportunities. 183 internships were offered to UG students during the last internship drive. The internships offer a good amount of money. These internships were mostly offered by MNCs. The major roles in these internships include Software engineer roles in IT companies, junior consultant in various consultancies and junior executives in various core engineering companies.
Placement Experience
Institute has a very decent campus placement with an average package of 14.29 LPA. Every student who has completed their 3rd year successfully becomes eligible for campus placements. And the students who have completed their second year successfully are eligible for internships. The institute has a placement percentage of 95.45%. 756 offers were given to UG students out of 792 students registered.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees are almost the same in all the NITs. However, the fee waiver is provided to the students as per the family income of the students. If your family income is between 1- 5 LPA, you get a fee remittance of 2-3rd of the total tuition fees. And if your family income is less than 1LPA, then you get a full remittance of tuition fees. Apart from this, if you are a Kerala student, you get a scholarship known as E-Grantz as per the eligibility criteria. Different states also provide state scholarships to their respective state students. You can also apply for Foundation for Excellence (FFE) scholarship. National Scholarship Portal (NSP) is also one of the scholarships for which any student throughout the country can apply. You can also avail Education Loan for yourself from any bank and can easily pay your institute fees. A lot of opportunities on campus itself that provide you with financial assistance, you can .part-time work in the study rooms of the library and study as well as earn there.
Campus Life
Campus life at NITC is super fabulous. They are two annual fests, the technical fest organised in October is known as TATHVA and the cultural fets organised in March is known as RAGAM. The fests are the soul of campus life. You get to the party, dance, attend pro shows and whatnot stuff. Everything you imagine is available during the fest time. Apart from fests, the clubs in NITC organise a lot of various events where people get to meet and greet each other, enjoy, dance and know each other. The institute has a very big library with a vast number of books and journals available. The library also has a study room where people come to study and it is available from morning to night (12 am). The institute also has a fully air-conditioned computer centre known as CCC. The institute is fully equipped with wi-fi and you can access it from any part of the institute. The classrooms are also well maintained with each class having a projector in it and all other basic facilities.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facilities in the institute are also good. The institute has a total of 13 Hostels. The first-year boys reside in A&B Hostels which are the oldest hostels of the institute but in spite of being old, they are also well maintained. All basic facilities are available there in the hostels with a Co-operative store inside the hostels. From the second year onwards, the boys resided in the newly constructed New Mega Hostel (MHB-II). This hostel is the biggest hostel with an occupancy of more than 1500 students.
Admission
Admission through JEE Main and 12th percentage > 75% After qualifying JEE Main and according to your rank obtained, you apply for JoSAA counselling. Then through JoSAA and CSAB counselling, you happen to get admission to the college. After successfully obtaining a seat in college, you then go to college for document verification and other admission formalities and you get admission to a hostel also there.
