Remarks

Needs a lot of improvement in the domain of practical applications. Although we had several mini projects, self motivated projects should encouraged as a part curriculum.

Entrance Preview

COMED-K entrance exam. I had a rank of 5298.I chose this college because of it's fame and reputation. It is a very well established college.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

The course structure is pretty intense. However, research is pretty laid back. Research is not carried out with vigor. The research in the domain of computational mechanics and fluid dynamics is very low. However, bio-diesel research and alternative fuel research was very good during the years 2010-2014.

Internships Opportunities

The internship provided by the college is zilch. However, if you are able to get one for yourself, the college will support you. But this is the case with any college in India.

Placement Experience

2.5

Numerous companies come for placements including mass recruiters like TCS, wipro and Infosys. Core companies for computer science, ECE and electrical also visit our college. The package varies from 3-9 lakhs per annum depending on the company and the branch of engineering.

College Events

1.5

There are generally branch technical fests for each individual branch like Momentum for Mechanical, technisium for the oft core branches etc. There used to be cultural fests like halcyon for the entire university as well. These provide a relief from the strenuous semester.

Fee Structure And Facilities

If you are admitted through Comed-K, the fee structure is very expensive amounting up to almost 1.5 lakhs per year. That is excluding the hostel fees. All together, it may cost you around 2,00,000 per year excluding your personal expenses. However, if you live off campus, it may be a little less expensive.

Fees and Financial Aid

You can always avail a loan from any of the banks in your locality. If not, you can apply for a loan in the karnataka bank available on campus. Asfar as scholarships go, there are many available for localkarnataka students who's parents have income below 20,000 per year.

Campus Life

2.5

Campus life is good. The gender ratio is average. There are different clubs which encourage the holistic development of students including debate clubs, sports clubs, fitness clubs etc. However, some sports are pretty dormant in SIT which may need rejuvenation.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Hostel facilities were decent enough. The mess food was not bad. Especially the specials they made are not to be missed. These are given on saturdays and sundays. There used to be a TV in the mess so you can catch the cricket matches and other sports.

Alumni/Alumna

I did not know the alumni to contact. However, I suggest SIT should maintain list of alumnus and their whereabouts. This should be available for the current and prospective students to gauge the potential of studies in SIT.

Exam Structure

There are generally 4-5 surprise quizzes in each semester. also we had two mid-term exams and a compensation exam in case anyone failed to take the exam. And at the end of the semester, there used to be an end semester exam. Each day individually was not a problem, however, the semester as a whole was pretty hectic.

Admission

I attended the counselling process in bangalore which is typically held after 1-2 months after the results have been declared. There is also a second round of counselling which is held but I would personally recommend not to go to it because SIT is a decent enough college. Especially for mechanical engineering.

Faculty

3

The teachers are very energetic, jovial and enthusiastic. The professors are pretty knowledgeable and can answer all your queries. If they cannot, they would definitely get back to you in the next lecture. If you are interested in partying, this college has only very limited on-campus parties. This is college which focuses on academics more.

Placement Experience:

Students in my college have a very good amount of campus placements where students become eligible from the final year 7th semester however the placement cell starts training from the 1st year means 1st semester itself like training for aptitude test, coding and mock interviews. Top it companies like TCS infosys, wipro, Accenture, capgemini, cognizant, IBM, tech mahindra mind tree. The campus receives 300+ offers. The average package 8 - 10 LPA and highest package 54 LPA. Every year 90% students are placed. After my degree i am planning to higher studies in abroad.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is generally detailed and aligned with industry Expectations but there is still scope for modernisation in certain areas.Overall i would like to rate 8/10. The syllabus include both theoretical and multiple lab components which ensures hands on learning. The practical labs like programming work and project with learning help students understand how concepts are applied in real work places. A few theory heavy subjects feel outdated and no longer match the current industry demand this could be revised or replaced.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for placements from the 6th semester, but the overall placement scenario in DSCE for CSE is below average. Not even 50% of students get placed in good companies. Most students end up getting offers from mass recruiters or in sales and non-tech roles. Only a small percentage of top performers get decent technical packages. Companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Capgemini, Accenture, Cognizant, and a few mid-tier companies visit the campus, but the number of high-package, core-tech roles is very limited. The average package is on the lower side compared to other top COMEDK colleges. Because of this, many students plan for higher studies, certification courses, or off-campus drives after completing the degree. The on-campus placement support definitely needs improvement, especially for technical roles.”

The students who are studying in 7th semester ( final year) are eligible for campus placements but before that in 5th semester there is pre placement training like aptitude everything. Top companies visit for placement like TCS , infosys, wipro, accenture, capegemini, IBM, techmahindra, Mindtree. Average there are 150-250 offers. Average package is 7-8 lpa. The highest package is 54 lpa at botify company. 85 % of students get placed at cse branch and ai amd ml and civil 30 - 50% . Overall 80% students gets placed. My plan is join a top product based company liek google with a good life.
