Remarks

College is really good with academics and faculty but should make strict rules for students to follow.

Entrance Preview

I did not give any entrance test, admission was strictly based on my class 12 results. I scored 87% in my +2 . As mentioned above I took economics Hons and Asutosh college has the best faculty and name as per economic department is concerned. And because of my good results I got admission in the college I wanted in.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Asutosh college has the best faculty and name for the economics department. The course is divided in 3 year process ( 1+1+1). first year syllabus was light and made students comfortable with the subject then last 2 years requires hard work.In third year they look as to a field trip for the EVS project where we got to learn about the flora and fauna.

Internships Opportunities

No our college that is Asutosh college does not provide us with any internship in any way maybe because it was a college runner by government.

Placement Experience

1.5

A few banks did came for the placement purpose like ICICI BANK, AXIS BANK etc but they did not provide any good job or salary to grab my interest so I skipped it and that why I don't remember the exact figure of hire much they paid. I think it was around 10000.

College Events

3.5

Almost everything. From dancing, singing, drama, extempore, debates, sports, fresher's party, farewell party, then all national celebrating festivals like Independence Day, republic day, mahatma Gandhi birthday, teachers day, children's day, Diwali, holi, Navratri, Durga Puja, Kali Puja, Lakhsmi Puja etc etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees varies from course to course. I can talk about my course that is economics Hons. It was not more than Rs 5000 in each year and it was a one time payment. Plus before final exam we had to pay the exam fee which was strong Rs 2000. Therefore the fees structure is very feasible and not expensive at all.

Fees and Financial Aid

Even though the fees was not a huge amount they offered the option of paying them in installments for the needy ones as it was a one time payment for the rest of us.

Campus Life

3

I think the gender ratio was excellent especially in my department. All students from different backgrounds were present so diversity was also very good. Extracurricular activities was a everyday affair so it's good in that department as well. Everyone was accepting with regard to gender, ethnicity, race, religion, sexual orientation, politics and economic status.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

Asutosh college doesn't has its own hostel facilities so it lacks in this department. The canteen good was not Up to the mark and a lot can be fine to me it better. Canteen was not given proper attention it required from cleaning to meeting the quality standards of food.

Alumni/Alumna

Senior students were really helpful and never ever mentioned things like ragging and other illegal activities.

Exam Structure

It was divided into three year system that is 1+1+1 system. Every year there is a mid term within the college to check our progress and then the final year examination for which we would a sitting arrangements in some other college. Before the final exam they were also a rehearsal examination for us.

Admission

Admission was strictly based on my class 12 results. First I had to fill an online application form and fill in all the details with my marks. Then they declare a merit list of students who made it through and then after verification I got the admission.

Faculty

3.5

Faculty members were excellent in Asutosh college. All the teachers were always present and ready to help whenever required. They took special interest in each and every student and especially to those who were eager to lean more. They would even wait after college hours to help and explain to the who needs special attention.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I've always found economics to be really interesting and thats why I choose to persue it. I wanted to dive deep into the actual concepts and workings of the economy and understand how the world works from an economist's point of view. Sadly the curriculam doesnt bridge the gap between theory and real life. It focuses heavily on textbook and not how the world works.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would say the course is good but you have to opt for masters and PhD to get a good placement. After bsc there's not any placement. The curriculum was basically practical and theoretical based. But I think it should be more practical so that we can get a job after doing bsc. The teaching method was good I didn't have any problem with that. As it was under Calcutta University so the exam questions were too difficult, sometimes it came out of our syllabus , i think they should change this a little bit .

Course Curriculum Overview:

The syllabus for BSc. Microbiology Hons. was in line with my interests. Few topics like virology, bacteriology, and diversity of the microbial workd are what drew my attention to pick this course. Although there are some portions which one would consider "boring", but I believe every subject has its interesting as well as boring portions. It's seems fair to judge a subject by seeing if the "boring" portions outweigh the "interesting" parts or not.

Course Curriculum Overview:

In terms of relevance and comprehensiveness of the course curriculum, my rating is solid 4.1 out of 5. Because it offers a variety of courses like compulsory english, environmental science, constitution values of India, Inter Disciplinary Courses where one can opt for a variety of subjects which change along with the course proceeds or semester changes. Not only that two major papers and one minor paper are present throughout the semester. As a student we should be well aware of our country and its law as well as how we can keep our environment healthy followed by sustainable development.
