Remarks
Everything is good. Just that everything needs money and there are lots of fines and unnecessary strict rules in the hostel.
Entrance Preview
VITEEE: VIT University has its own entrance exam VITEEE. In my time VIT was among the top private universities in India. I had several chats with Alumni's and from their feedback, I thought this college might be good for me.
Course Curriculum Overview
VIT University being a deemed University has its own course. The 4-year course covers almost all aspects of computing knowledge needed in today's world. There are a lot of exams also, CAT1, CAT2 and Term End i.e three exams followed by 3 Quizez also. And if there is a lab associated with the subject, you will have extra 3 exams for the lab during CAT1, CAT2, and Term End.
Internships Opportunities
The internship needs to be found by the student itself. Though while placements some companies do offer Internship plus placement also.
Placement Experience
I guess it sone of the best in India. VIT claims to give almost 100% placement. And I have witnessed myself that even at the last minute if you prepare for placements you can get into a nice company above 10 LPA. During my time 100 plus students were placed in super dream companies i.e above 10 Lakhs per annum.
College Events
1. Riviera: Cultural Fest 2 . Gravitas: Tech Fest Both the fest are considered one of the best college fest in south India. Riviera is a 4-day fest. every night celebrities come and entertain. Tech fest Gravitas is solely done by students and no celebs are brought. During my time I saw Ranvijay, Sukvinder Singh and Shankar Ehsaan Loy.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fees depend on whether you are merit, semi-merit, or management quota. Fees structure is highly dynamic as it depends on the number of seats available and also when you join after the counseling starts. If you are merit, the fees are very feasible. but if you are from the management quota, then your fees can even reach 5 lakhs per year.
Fees and Financial Aid
I did not avail any scholarship or loan facility. I don't think there is any loan facility but I guess there are few scholarships if your family earns below some specific income.
Campus Life
The gender ratio during my time was like 6000 girls and 14000 boys I guess. Gender ration mostly depended on the branch also. In Mechanical there were only around 10 girls and 600+ boys while in CSE it looked like 50/50. Extracurriculars are good. Labs are well equipped. Sports I did think was that good but I heard that boxing had a good coach.
Hostel Facilities
The infrastructure of the hostel is good and above average. In mess, we have many options like, North Veg, South Veg, North Non-Veg, South Non-Veg, and then special mess which has both veg and non-veg. There are also live kitchens where you can order food based on the day's menu.
Alumni/Alumna
After passing out from VIT you become a part of the VIT Alumni portal. It's a well-managed portal and you can see activities happening. VIT also posts you about various off-campus job offers through your mail which is very helpful.
Exam Structure
As I said above, there are a lot of exams. Once the first exam starts after that you won't know how the semester ended so fast. There is CAT1, CAT2, and Term End i.e three exams followed by 3 Quizez also. And if there is a lab associated with the subject, you will have extra 3 exams for the lab during CAT1, CAT2, and Term End.
Admission
To enter into VIT you need to give VITEEE exam. After the results are declared, students are called in batches according to their rank in VITEEE. The seats and fees depend on the remaining seats in a particular branch. As per my observation, CSE and Mechanical Branch gets filled first.
Faculty
The faculty at VIT University is better than the average College. Also when I entered college there was news that in a few years all the senior professors need to be P.H.D. holders. But as it happens in every college and every educational institute in India, i personally think its students who need to study, faculty is just for clearing doubts.
