What Students Say
Likes
- The first thing i like here is the infrastructure, it is really great. The classrooms here are excellent and modern. Most of the professors over here are knowledgeable and supportive.
- Second is the FFCS(Fully flexible credit system) which allows students to choose their own courses which they have to write in that particular semester. And it feels like you are the boss who decides which class to attend and at what time.
- Next thing is the Campus life and social interactions. Here you can see students from all corners of India even from other nearby countries. The exposure that you get here is really great and you can enjoy your campus life to your fullest.
Dislikes
- Things that i disliked at first was as a fresher you are not allowed to go out of the campus(as a hosteller) for first 3months without permission, but later i realised it is for our safety.
- The hostel rules might be strict with attendance and discipline and regular checkup will be there if they feel something suspicious about u.
- the tuition fees might feel a bit high and sometimes a burden to some families.
Course Curriculum Overview
The specific aspect of this curriculum that influenced me to choose were the depth of the M.Tech level courses and the ability to specialize in the fields like data science, software engineering, which is a massive head start compared to traditional B.Tech. It might be an area for improvement in the curriculum would be a better balance between theoretical and practical knowledge in the early years, and perhaps more industry specific workshops and guest lectures to bridge the gap between classroom teaching and corporate demands.
Placement Experience
B.tech students will be eligible after they complete their credits before the 3rd year and usually that is the period during which they will be eligible for placements. For integrated M.tech it might be after the 4th year in 5th year, they could get a year for internships which is good for students. This might be considered as my interest in this course. The placement is around 95 percent. My plans after getting the degree is to become a highly skilled person and to get a job in google. Many companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Qualcomm, etc place our campus. There are no such companies that visited and made no offers.
Fees and Financial Aid
My fees per year in vit is, 295000 for course and 140000 for hostel which totally comes around 435000 per year. All the tuition fees, Caution deposit and Registeration fees comes into the fees told above. My friends also pay same fees but some pay less as per their mark and i know one of my class mates who pays 120000 for his tuition fee alone but hostel fee depends on they type of room that you choose ranging from 120000 to 240000.Even though it seems expensive it is worth it.Yeah they also provide 100 percent scholarship for students who top in their districts or locality.
Campus Life
About events is that there are lot of events like clubs, expos, dance, songs, Rivera and Gravitas. The list might be very big.The accesibility of books in library is easy. The technological provisions is very good. There are many sports and extracurricular oppurtunities provided.Yes almost all students will be participating in one or more clubs.
Admission
I applied for tnea college and got my seat allocated in normal private engineering colleges B.tech cse. I applied for 2nd round too and got my seat allocated in a normal safety college but beside these studying in int mtech in vit vellore is better than studying btech cse in normal private college. Admission procees is in two ways one is through entrance exam and another is through your boards. The most preffered course by students is cse and it sector courses.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is approximately 1:17 and faculty student relationships are generally positive and approachable due to the FFCS system which allows students to choose their professor. There are typically three exams per semester(CAT 1 , CAT 2 , FAT), which are considered to be ranging from moderate to difficult level.Even though some students do stuggle, the overall pass percentage is decent.
Night Life
Night life in vit is really good as u might be spending your night time with your friends. The hostels will be closed at 9 and students must enter before that and gym also closes by that time. Whereas places like cafeterias close by 8. The best hangout place will be the college itself and dc cafe.
