Course Curriculum Overview

4

Honestly, I chose a foreign language because I observed one could get a job immediately after graduation if you've learned well enough. That too is German because I feel it has the largest market in this sector and less supply. Center of German Studies (CGS) is one of the strictest centers in the School of Languages. The teachers are quite punctual and gritty. However, at the moment, due to a lack of professors, a lot of Ph.D. students teach BA students. The faculty is highly educated, be it the likes of Prof. Babu Thaliath, Prof. Shambhavi Prakash, Prof. Rosy, and so on. You can check out the JNU official page for further details. Different teaching methods are used to make topics interesting and engaging, even though the exams are not monotonous, they can be written, oral, speaking, or listening. The exams are not very difficult if you've paid attention to the classes. You're expected to commit mistakes.

Fees and Financial Aid

As of now, the semester fee is 108. Other than this, you'll need to pay the mess bill if you're living in a hostel which sums up to around 3000-3500. At the beginning of a new semester, a maintenance fee of around 1500 is also charged. As of now, we have a DAAD scholarship from Germany for 2nd-year students. You can go to Germany to study over there for some months. Just register for the scholarship, have a B2 level proficiency certificate and give the interview.

Campus Life

4

If you want to practically watch a society where there is "unity in diversity", you should come to the JNU campus. Lots of programs are conducted throughout the year, every festival is celebrated with great pomp and splendor. In addition, there are DJ nights which are second to none when it comes to enjoying and having fun. JNU Central library is a place to be if you're a serious student. There you can meet serious civil service aspirants and have some good company.

Admission

I'm pursuing Bachelor in the German language at JNU. You can apply once your intermediate is completed, there is no minimum percentage requirement as such. You can check out the application dates online. It is generally rolled out in Aug-Sep every year, and the exam is conducted from Oct- Nov. Now we're having entrance via CUET. Back in 2020, we gave an entrance conducted by JNU itself. There is a different cutoff for different languages. If you're someone who comes from the General category and you score 75-80, there are high chances you'll get selected. You've to opt for 3 languages priority-wise. Besides, there are additional points if you're a girl Candidate (+5), if you come from backward districts as per the districts enlisted state-wise (+4/+6). In addition, if you are from the reserved category, your cutoff is lower w.r.t. the unreserved.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is something that can have improvements. For example I am studying C++ in my computer minor class which is becoming less and less relavent as compared to a lamguage like python. Alot of job prospects require students to know a language like R so I feel things like that should be taught so that the course cam make a student more real world ready.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My course requires a lot of analytical and logical thinking. The scope is quite wide in my course without having any professional degree too like research, analytics, finance manager etc. This course gives opportunity to gain applied skills and as we are dealing with quantitaive aspects our statistics also gets better with time. Few improvements which i would like suggest are that their should more practical and real life knowledge, currently it is very theoritically heavy. Teaching online softwares must be compulsoury so that we remain updated with technology.

I was interested in the subject economics so i opted it for my graduation. The curriculum teaches us with some real life example so it becomes a little easy to understand it, the thing that can be improved is just using a little more real life examples so the students have clarity in topic.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Curriculum is essential to guide teachers in what to teach, how much depth of knowledge is needed for that grade, and a a timeline to follow so the year will be completed. Curriculum needs to focus on what you can do with information rather than the information itself. I wouldn’t eliminate content, without background we cannot form good, rational, and educated conclusions. We are still giving timed tests in math facts! I know that’s traditional, but it just isn’t as important.
