Course Curriculum Overview
I personally chose CS1 which is 4 years BTECH in Computer Science and Engineering because it was the best branch I was getting with my rank. The faculty-student ratio varies from class to class though on average in the first year it will be around 1:150. But from the second year onwards it will decrease. This is because, in the first year of IITD, all the branches have the same courses. Coming up o the part of academics in IITD, it's way different from JEE academia. One needs to give equal importance to labs and classes. Also to get good grades in IITD you should keep your jee mode on cause everything is relative to grading in IITD. Also, self-study is very important for a decent 9 CGPA.
Internships Opportunities
Internships are offered by colleges but some students also go for internships that they get using their own contacts. Most people in IITD get internships after 1 year that is during around 3rd or 4th semester. It will be highly beneficial for someone if he/she is already skilled in technology before coming to IITD. It will help them to get internships.
Placement Experience
Placements in IITD are really top-notch. Almost all hardworking students get placed before or during the placement seasons. The highest placement offers generally range between 1.5-2 cr per annum. And the average though varies from branch to branch but it generally ranges between 8-15 LPA. Also, some students also prefer higher studies either in India or Abroad after their degree.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees at IITD are just like other government colleges but for me, the hostel and mess fees are a bit on the higher side. The combined hostel and mess fee in a year around? 80000. Though college fees are not increased regularly, the hostel and mess fees get a hike regularly. As per the Government of India, The tuition fees are 33000 per semester for someone having a family income between 1 to 5 lakh and 0 for SC/ST/PwD and someone having a family income less than 1 lakh. Also, there are various other scholarships based on merit and the need of students, so your financial condition won't be a problem to thrive in IITD.
Campus Life
Campus life is awesome at IITD. You have everything from academics to sports to culture. You just need your motivation and perseverance to do these things. Apart from these, there are various fests that are regularly organized by the student communities. Popular ones include Rendezvous, Tryst, Becon, Literati, etc.
Hostel Facilities
Unlike other colleges hostels at IITD are a bit old but they are still in good condition. The college will provide only a bed and table and wardrobe for you in the hostel. All other things need to be brought by students. Coming to the mess food, it's actually very good. Though it's mostly veg and from nonveg, you will get only egg but you won't complain about the food.
Admission
For IIT Delhi you first need to qualify for JEE Mains and then qualify for JEE Advanced. The application for Jee mains will be released by NTA on their website jeemains.nta.nic.in. After qualifying for jee advanced through jee main you need to fill up the form for jee advanced on Jeeadv.ac.in. The form fee for jee mains is? 1000 for General/ GenEWS/ OBCNCL Males and ? 500 for all females and SC/ST/PwD. That for advanced is? 2800 and ? 1400 respectively.
