Amit's opinion about IIT Delhi

I got a mechanical engineering course based on my rank. And I had dreamt to study at top colleges so I choose IIT Delhi. The student ratio is 4:1 respective to boys and girls. All faculty are PhD, respective subject experts, and have doctorate degrees. They teach most easily. Generally, they focus on practical thinking skills. Here the competition is too high so to pass everyone has to study. Exams consist of two. One is minor and the other is major which are held at the difference of 1.5 months.

As I am in my first year and here I arrived in October 2022. In the first semester, everyone gets distracted by so many orientations of clubs and boards. There were many events and workshops. So I do have not much idea about internships.

In 3rd students got internship opportunities based on their CGPA criteria. Companies visit the campus for the placement of fourth-year students. So many companies came during the placement season like Google, Microsoft, Adobe, bajaj, IBM, Infosys, Intel, etc. Around 1300+, jobs are offered every year. Here, the placements rate is high about 80+%. The highest salary offered 2Cr and the lowest was 6lakhs (rough idea). I first try to build a start-up and if it does not happen then I will be going through the UPSC line.

Here the fee is quite high. One whose family income is less than 1 lakh has a full fee waiver and one whose family income is between 1 lakh and 5 lacks has a fee waiver of 2/3 of the total and above lakh has no concession in fee. There are many scholarships based on family income criteria. Right now I have no clear idea about jobs, etc.

Annual fest and tech fest have been named RDV and Tryst respectively. At IIT Delhi, the central library has more than thousands of books and journals which is open 20 hours per day. AC, projector with 3 big screens, comfortable seats, and wonderful interior design rooms in LHC. Here, sports culture is too good containing mostly each game except kabbadi. There are so many events where we can participate in which we get extracurricular points which reflect in our CV. We can opt for NSO, NSS, or NCC which is necessary to opt. Here, there are so many groups such as BSW for student welfare, BRCA for cultural, BSA for sports activities, eDC for starts up, etc. Clubs include dance, music, literature, Debating, photography, physics and astronomy, etc. All the above-mentioned are run by students.

Rooms contain 1 big almirah and two small, chairs, a table, a bed(without a mattress), a mirror, a shelf, and a fan. In the first year, two students are in a room(conducted). In the hostel, we have a healthy breakfast(containing fruit and milk every day), lunch and dinner. In the evening we have to pay 10 or 15 rupees for snacks like samosa, sandwiches, etc. But they provide tea, coffee and bread free. The hostel is allotted by the institute and its fee is paid before arriving at the hostel through the institute leads portal. My hostel is Girnar(the best hostel on campus) I have no clear idea about day scholar students but there is a place Jia sarai where so many PGs are there adjacent to the campus.

Eligibility: For taking a mechanical engineering course, rank in jee advanced should be at most 6000(AIR). Application forms, application fees and all other information are available on the facade site of IIT Delhi. I have opted reservation seat in the OBC category with an OBC rank of 878. The admission process is easy at IIT Delhi.
